The next day Rose finally had a good night's sleep until noon and first of all decided to go to her mother and visit her and Hank. Right now the girl needed the company of the person dearest to her and her support. Rose hadn't told her mother yet that she had signed a contract in Seattle, thinking that it would be bad news for the woman.
She didn't immediately muster up the resolve to tell her mom about it, chatting with her about nothing at first, and briefly telling her how the trip to Vegas had gone. The blonde sat comfortably on the windowsill by the window with a cup of hot chocolate from her mom, watching the softly falling snow cover the street and her car outside the window. It's so peaceful and beautiful right now that she doesn't want to bring notes of sadness and longing into their conversation.
-I signed a contract. - Rose breaks the silence quickly, causing the woman to freeze with a cup of drink at her lips.
The blonde turns her head to the side, watching her mother, who sits cozily on the couch, climbing up on it with her legs. The woman presses her lips together understandingly and sets the cup back on the table with a short nod.
-Come here.- She gently patted the couch with her palm, urging her daughter to join her.
Rose jumps off the windowsill and walks over to her mom, sitting down with her feet on the couch just as she does.
-Tell me everything. - The woman looks warmly at her daughter, gently touching her blond, wavy curls with her fingers.
Rose chuckled sadly. She wished she could tell her mom more than just about the contract. She wishes she could tell her mom about Jennie, with whom she'd have to put up barriers to communication, because the decision to work in Seattle had made it impossible for them to have a relationship. The blonde did not tell her mother that she has a girl, to whom she has very warm and reverent feelings, realizing that nothing will work out anyway. At least not now, and in the future and hope is not worth it. A lot can change in a year, and it's foolish to hope that Jennie won't have anyone in that time frame. Everything plays against them in the end.
-I've been offered a contract in Seattle for three months, but with the possibility of extending it to a year minimum.- Rose begins to tell her, leaving her drink cup on the table, and then turns her gaze to her mother, feeling her mute support.- This company is bigger than the one I'm working for now. Good prospects, salary, and opportunities. Interesting field for me, and I'm very interested in this job. I'm sorry, mom, that I'll have to leave for a long time.
Park guiltily averts her gaze from her mother, but the woman smiles warmly, moving closer to her daughter.
-Honey, it's okay.- The woman says it with all the warmth and tenderness she has for her child, knowing that she needs her support and approval, no matter how much Rose thinks her decision is hers alone.- The most important thing is that you like this job, and if you do, how can I be against it? You're very talented and have made great strides in your industry and that's not the limit. If it helps you grow and reach new opportunities and knowledge, then you should go.
She pulls her daughter closer to her and hugs her, giving all her love and support.
-It's not the first time for us, is it?- The woman smiles softly, and though Rose, lying on her mother's shoulder, can't see it, she feels it.- Distance is nothing to us.
Rose smiles wider, pleased with her mother's optimism, which she manages to energize in her as well. Of course, she doesn't like the news, but who likes to know that your child will leave you for a long time and you will rarely see him/her? If this is a big opportunity for her daughter to realize herself in a new way, so be it.
