They kept on ogling at you and Camie. You don't recall a time whenever you've ever felt this uncomfortable, unless you were being pressured by Eneru's constant gaze of expectance. Camie was too sensitive for something like this.
To keep you in line, they sedated you, as a way to make sure you wouldn't do something reckless if you ever came upon a chance to and catch them off guard, making you weak. You tried to calm Camie down and tell her that your friends would find their way to you, but even you were in a state of constant panic, despite what you were telling yourself.
Like the other slaves, they put a collar around your neck -- one that would explode if you attempted to escape. You were stuck in a cell in the back of the auction house Hachi spoke of, and it was dim with spiderwebs, rust, and mold.
There were all kinds of slaves here. Innocent dancers that would be used for seduction and entertainment, elderly people who were too weak to resist the commands of their 'owners', stronger men whom would be used for chores their masters were too lazy to do themselves, and even a giant.
The owner of the auction house, Disco, he didn't treat you or Camie well when you first arrived. He slapped you both when you showed even the slightest hint of attitude, his excitement fading into anger and hatred.
'A mermaid? How truly rare! Lively and strong! This should fetch a high price! Who submitted it?'
'The Hound Pets.'
'Peterman, huh? He does damn good work. And yet, the Flying Fish Riders haven't submitted anything time time... Well, in any case, there's no question this'll sell for a lot!'
Bastards. You remembered the conversation all too well.
'And what's this thing with the wings? To be submitted with the mermaid must mean it's also something... extraordinary. Hm?'
'Peterman said it was a... Seraphine, sir.'
'...What?'
He praised you for your rarity, yet you didn't want it. You hated every word that spilled out of his mouth. You hated him. No, you hated everyone that agreed to work in this auctioning business. How could they do such a thing, without a care in the world? For Berry? Stupid. Heartless.
