You were running out of time. Moria and his... new form really weren't helping -- a consumer of 1000 shadows -- how could you beat him? Your crew was exhausted, and so were you. Shit.
He had the shadows of Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji. You could only imagine how powerful he was in this state, an imagination you didn't want to become reality.
"I..." You analyzed Moria's monster-like appearance, spotting differences that made your brows furrow. "...Why's his neck so... big? Aren't all the shadows supposed to be in his stomach..."
As Moria let out a low growl, the ones you were supposed to be helping get their shadows back retreated into the woods, wanting to take no part in a fight against Moria. Not when he was like this.
The angered Warlord greeted the ground with his fist, splitting it in two. Half of the escapees got crushed by falling rubble being triggered from the crack in the land, and the other half merely watched as the mansion attached to Thriller Bark's mast began to collapse.
The sun arrived much sooner than you thought, peeking over Thriller Bark's defensive walls to unleash its light upon the victims without shadows. A vast majority burned from head to toe, facing the sun's wrath.
Only one woman refused to follow her people into the darkness.
"Captain Lola!"
"Captain Lola, what's keeping you? Hurry up!"
You were wondering who she was. She was their leader, the girl with the pink braids.
"Guys, please run for it," Lola demanded, despite the reluctance of her friends to leave her so easily. "I'm responsible... for this gamble! Just look at them. The pirates. They aren't the least bit fazed. And here they've lost their shadows as well. As long as they intend to fight, I'm not leaving this spot! If we selfishly place our faith in Straw Hat as the 'Star of Hope' and then split as soon as the going gets tough, we're no better than lowly insects! I want you to escape. As the captain, our obligation will be met if I stay behind. Guys... Treasure your lives."
She insisted on staying, even as the sun hit her, burning her flesh.
"He's practically going berserk. He doesn't have full control of the shadows." Zoro stated.
