Chapter 31

(A/n: Just to let you know, Chan got a new PA named Ahn Hwayoung. And don't worry, she is in no way related to Ahn Minseo in this book.)

January. A cold month in South Korea.

It's been one week into 2027 and it has never been busier. It was back to work!

Jeongin was fully out of the wheelchair and back to the office. He still went to physiotherapy for his injured muscle tissues and bone marrows, but now he could move around freely.

Now, to the real matter: the kiss.

Jeongin has been trying to avoid being alone with Chan even for a second, because he was absolutely not ready to talk about it.

He had now admitted it to himself. He likes Chan. He was the one that initiated the kiss between them. So he doesn't know how he should approach the matter, or if he should talk about it at all.

So he chooses to hide in the cocoon of his busy work schedule as an applicable excuse.

Piles of paperwork were stacked on his desk which needed attention.

Even when Chan called him into his office, he'd try not to stay too long so that his heart rate wouldn't try to kill him anymore because of how fast it was.

*11:00 a.m.*

Board meeting. This was one of those times where Jeongin had to put the best impression in front of the board of directors. One of them being the head of the company, Chan.

He had Kim Hyeon-woo to assist him, the person who was in the place of Jeongin's post during his sick leave. He was an essential part in the accounting team and will continue to be one of them.

Throughout the whole meeting, Jeongin tried his best not to look at Chan's deadly stare, but found it to be almost impossible. He melted from the inside.

When it was all over, Chan dismissed everyone to their work.

All except Jeongin...

He called him into his office and got seated. Hwayoung stepped out, leaving the two of them alone.

Yes. They were alone. This is what Jeongin feared.

Chan looked serious.

'Maybe he wants to talk about the presentation?' Jeongin thought, 'Or maybe it's about something else... What if he still remembers?? What if he starts hating me for it?! What if he doesn't wanna be friends anymore?!!'

'Jeongin! Calm! Down!'

'I CAN'T CALM DOWN! CHAN MIGHT WANNA TALK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED!!'

'SHUT UP!!!'

"Jeongin?"

He was pulled out of his mental arguments by the sound of Chan's voice.

"Are you alright?"

"Uhm... Y-Yeah. Yeah, I'm okay. I'm perfect."

'Yeah you are', Chan mentally smirked.

"Well, anyway. I wanted to get you to review these files, just to make sure everything's set. Our head of accounting seems to be having issues in that department. So I need you to handle it just for this month."

"A-Alright, sir. I'll get on it right away." Jeongin was just waiting to get out of there as soon as possible. Even just being this close to Chan was making him lose his cool.
