Author's POV

The day started with Mrs Yang going through a bunch of documents on her office desk.

She woke up gloomy today, but hid it all behind her professionalism. January was a busy month for Incheon Incorporated, it was the month the business had started.

This company was handed down from Chaerin's father when he died of cancer. She was a very young girl, just 21 years of age. The responsibility she had to take on weighed her shoulders like a heavy boulder.

People doubted her and told her that she couldn't do it. They said she'd never make it through the first month just because she was a girl. But look at her now, soaring higher than a bird can reach. She took her father's business to greater heights than he ever could.

Chaerin tore her eyes away from her laptop and began browsing through an important file.

Then there was a knock on her office door.

"Enter."

Her secretary entered with her usual neutral expression always in tact. "Madam, your meeting for the PTA starts in 5 minutes."

Mrs Yang sighed. "Alright. In the meantime, I'll need you to send Jennie to Ms Yoon for an important document. She knows what she has to do afterwards."

With that, Mrs Yang stood up from her executive chair before walking out with her secretary following from behind.

The meeting went well for it's duration and all the board members went back to their respective work.

Chaerin was asked to rethink the matters of the shareholders as they had discussed in a previous meeting. But she was lost in thought, with the pen in her hand and many papers before her.

She felt slightly disturbed today. Her mind was elsewhere apart from work. She needed some sort of escape, but right now she was held back by her work.

The day went on with multiple more meetings and multiple phone calls and appointments.

*09:50 a.m.*

Chaerin got home later than the usual. With a grave sigh, she went into the house with her heart feeling heavy.

Slowly, she went to the wine case and grabbed herself two bottles of wine and a glass before heading upstairs.

As she walked past the many doors down the corridor, her heart grew heavier with emotion.

When her tracks finally stopped, she stood in front of a large white door. With a shakey breath, she turned the door handle.

It's been a year since she last went into this room, but the maids made sure to keep it clean at all times no matter what. It was the most sacred space in the house which no one was allowed to enter besides her - and Jeongin as an acception.

Her eyes scanned the framed pictures on the walls. These were pictures of her and her late husband.

Chaerin let her hands roam freely on whatever she could touch; feeling the soft comfort of the bedsheets; feeling the smooth surface of the bookshelves and nightstand; feeling the fluffiness of the polyester shag rug on the floor.

Her eyes crossed the figurine case to her left. She remembers how her husband loved his figurines. Organizing things was a hobby he took high interest in.

Chaerin took a couple of steps towards a very large framed picture on the forth wall facing the bed.

Mr Yang Jae-hyun.
