Jeongin awoke the next day, taking a shower and changing his bandages as he did every day. He was actually very happy that they would be off in two more days.
He decided to wear blue jeans and a green and white striped V-neck sweater.
As he walked out of his room and down the stairs, his eyes immediately fell upon Chan at the breakfast table.
His heart fluttered and he felt butterflies in his stomach. 'Jeongin, stop it', he thought.
He sat down as he greeted Felix, Hyunjin and Chan. "Good morning".
"Morning, Jeonginnie", everyone else replied in sync.
A maid quickly poured some juice into Jeongin's glass.
"How'd you sleep?" Chan asked.
Jeongin's heart began to beat faster at Chan's words. "I slept fine. Thanks."
"We're leaving in ten minutes", Felix said as he scrolled on his TikTok.
They all continued to eat quietly. But Jeongin kept taking small glances at Chan's seated figure. His blond dyed hair, his brown eyes, his nose, and his pink lips... Jeongin just couldn't take his mind off of the kiss they shared a couple of days ago.
'There was nothing that happened between us', he thought, 'It was just a simple kiss. It was meaningless. Why do I keep thinking about him so much? He's my boss...'
He shook his head, trying to focus on nothing else but his food. Yet thoughts about Chan lingered on his mind, not willing to leave.
*9 minutes later*
Hyunjin and Felix walked out of the door, holding each other's hands.
As Chan and Jeongin stood next to the car, they looked at each other.
"It actually feels like you're leaving today", Chan said as he put his hands in his pocket.
"Hyeong, I'll just be gone for a few hours. It's not like I'm leaving this world forever-"
"Hey! Don't say things like that." Chan's tone and facial expression turned angry all of a sudden.
Jeongin looked down apologetically. "I'm sorry", he said.
Chan sighed before taking a step closer towards the younger. "No, I'm sorry", he said, "I shouldn't have said it in such an angry tone."
"Stop apologizing for things that aren't your fault. And you're right. I shouldn't have said that."
Chan placed a finger underneath Jeongin's chin as he raised his head. Their eyes met. "You know you can always tell me if there's something bothering you, okay?"
Jeongin nodded gently. Then Chan pulled him into an embrace. Jeongin's heart immediately fluttered to the point where his cheeks turned pink.
When Jeongin looked at Chan's face, their eyes locked. His eyes slipped down to Chan's lips. Their faces were only inches away.
He could clearly feel the butterflies in his stomach. His face felt hot, and his heart was racing.
"I-I'll go now", Jeongin said as he pulled away from the hug.
A moment later, they drove off, leaving the mansion and Chan behind.
Chan quickly pulled out his phone and dialed a number. Then he put it up to his ear. "Follow the car and keep an eye on them. Make sure they're safe at all costs."
