How are you, sugar?

Have you eaten yet?

Did you manage to sleep well last night?

How was your day at the office?

These were the comforting questions Hyunjin yearned to hear from his little minx.

These were the same questions he desperately wanted to respond to, but how could he?

No matter how much he wished for Felix to be waiting at home with open arms when he returned from work, the truth was as clear as a day...

He wasn't there.

Hyunjin found himself aching for the warmth and safety that came with being enveloped in Felix's arms.

Those arms felt like a cozy blanket wrapped tightly around him, and without them, he shivered with an overwhelming chill— an ache that made him feel as though he would never claw his way back from the deep abyss Felix had unknowingly let him tumble into.

Felix's heartbeat had always served as a soothing melody that calmed the frantic rhythms of Hyunjin's heart.

But now, that familiar cadence was silenced— it was gone.

The sound of Felix's laughter— like wind chimes dancing in a gentle breeze —had been the only thing capable of brightening Hyunjin's otherwise cloudy days.

Now, the cruel reality loomed over him: he wasn't even sure if he'd ever get to hear him again.

His eyes, the way they shined every time Felix looked at him... Something he will never stop looking for and might never see again.

Hyunjin often found himself lost in thought, staring blankly at the ceiling as he lay in bed, contemplating everything that had happened —how it all unfolded and how different his life might have been if he had followed his heart instead of surrendering to the weight of rationality and the opinions of others.

That's how he spent countless sleepless nights, tossing and turning in the dim light of his lonely apartment, which he was beginning to despise.

What could possibly make him hate the apartment he once cherished?

The answer was simple: It reminded him of the one who left.

Yeah... The one who left without a trace because ever since Felix graduated, he hadn't laid eyes on him.

Hyunjin would drive aimlessly along the street where Jeongin and Felix lived, hoping for a glimpse of his minx returning home, but all he ever caught sight of was Jeongin heading out with Minho or Jisung.

Felix remained an elusive shadow, never seen entering or exiting their shared space.

"Where is he?" Hyunjin finally mustered the courage to ask Jeongin one day as the latter emerged from the apartment building.

Jeongin looked up from his phone, his expression unreadable. "He is not home..." he replied, his voice devoid of the usual warmth that the raven had come to expect from him.

Hyunjin felt a knot tighten in his stomach. "Okay... Do you mind if I ask when he's coming back?"

Jeongin shrugged, his posture relaxed yet unyielding. "He doesn't owe me any explanations, Hwang. Felix is free to come and go as he pleases, and that's just how it is. So, when it comes to knowing when he'll return, honestly, I have no idea. It's entirely up to him."
