For a moment after the call ended, Felix didn't move. The phone sat heavy in his hand, still warm against his palm, the glow of the screen fading out one heartbeat at a time. Outside the cab window, the city pulsed in slow motion... headlights dragging ribbons of white and gold through the wet streets, people passing in blurred silhouettes.

When he finally looked up, he realized the taxi had been parked in front of the hotel for a while. He blinked, startled by how still everything felt now.

"Sorry," he murmured, voice hoarse. He paid the fare, thanked the driver with a tired smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, and pushed the door open.

Cool air hit him the moment he stepped out. The night smelled faintly of rain and asphalt, the kind of air that tasted like endings. His heart beat too fast as he walked toward the entrance, each step echoing softly against the polished stones.

He straightened his jacket, smoothing invisible creases, as if neat fabric could hide the chaos underneath his skin.

"Keep it together," he told himself. "Just look normal."

Inside, the lobby shimmered with warmth ...gold lights reflecting off marble floors, soft jazz floating from hidden speakers. It felt too bright, too clean.

"Welcome to the Marriott! How can I help you tonight?" The receptionist's cheerful tone made him flinch. Her beaming smile felt almost surreal.

Felix mirrored it ...or tried to. The corners of his mouth lifted mechanically. "I'm here to see Mr. Hwang Hyunjin," he said, his voice low but steady enough. "He's expecting me. Could you please tell me what room he's staying in?"

"Of course! Just a moment."

Her fingers danced quickly across the keyboard, the soft clack of keys filling the silence between them. Felix stood there, shifting his weight from one foot to the other, heart hammering so loudly he swore the sound must've reached the counter.

Finally, she looked up. Her smile brightened even more. "Mr. Hwang Hyunjin is in the Presidential Suite, on the top floor."

Felix exhaled a short, quiet breath, the faintest twitch of a smile forming. 'Of course he is.' He thought to himself.

"You'll need to take the golden elevator to your right," the woman continued, her manicured hand gesturing gracefully toward the row of gilded doors gleaming under the lobby lights. "Just press the button for the twentieth floor. I believe he's in his room at the moment."

"Thank you so much," Felix replied, bowing slightly. His voice trembled, but his smile was genuine... an echo of gratitude wrapped around a knot of nerves. His heart swelled with a mix of anticipation and dread as he turned toward the elevators, his soaked shoes squeaking  softly against the marble.
