"Bang Chan? Is that really you!?" a voice rang out from the other side of the store, breaking the mundane chatter of Woolworths, the bustling Australian supermarket.

Chan, who was standing in line clutching a bag of almond flour, felt a jolt of surprise course through him.

The voice struck a chord of recognition, drawing his attention away from the checkout counter and towards the source. He furrowed his brows, trying to wrap his mind around the possibility of someone he knew being there, but he quickly dismissed it as impossible.

It couldn't be the person he thought...

With a slight shake of his head, Chan shifted his focus back down to his boyfriend, who was standing beside him, his small frame radiating warmth.

The familiar scent of his hair— fresh and sweet —filled Chan's senses as he leaned down, gently nuzzling his nose into the silky strands. It was a small gesture, but one filled with that affection that has been growing stronger with each passing second he had him by his side.

Feeling the need to protect everything about him after spending so much time begging for a chance, Chan pulled him closer, enveloping him in a warm embrace.

"You are so warm, honey..." Chan whispered, his heart swelling at the sight of the smaller man beside him, someone who brought so much joy into his life.

"Am I?"

"Yeah..." Chan smiled as he leaned down once more, placing a tender peck on his boyfriend's forehead.

They stood together in their little world, momentarily untouched by the hustle and bustle surrounding them.

But that was until the voice spoke again...

"Channie! The fuck, bro? Are you really just going to ignore me?" The deep voice rang out, thick with an unmistakable Asian accent, cutting through the noise around them.

This time, something instinctual tugged at Chan, urging him to turn around and look for the owner of that voice.

And he did.

Curiosity surged within him, drawing his attention to the maze of people navigating the crowded store.

But that was until his eyes finally landed on a familiar figure standing at the checkout line— a tall presence that stood out from everyone else.
