They play a few more games and Kavyansh indeed wins a Pikachu, a Minnie Mouse, and a Pooh Bear soft toy for Varenya. In return, he gets lots of kisses from his Lotus making him eager to win more gifts. But Varenya stops him saying that she is feeling hungry. So, Kavyansh takes her to a stall selling all types of Bengali snacks. From Jhalmuri, Kathi Rolls, and Ghugni to Dimer Devil, Chicken Cutlet, and Phuchka. There are so many options that Varenya is having a hard time selecting what she wants to try first.
"Kavi..." Varenya calls out in a hesitant tone.
"What?" Kavyansh asks, looking at Varenya's nervous face.
"Umm, what if someone in the family finds out that I have eaten non-veg food? Won't they be disgusted by me?" Varenya asks, fumbling with her fingers.
"Lotus, you are not liable to anyone's liking. You have grown up in a household where both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food used to be made. You are allowed to eat what you want without guilt." Kavyansh squeezes her hand gently, his thumb rubbing soothing circles over her skin. But Varenya bites her lower lip, still looking a little unsure.
"And if anyone has a problem with it, they can take it up with me." Kavyansh leans closer, his deep voice dropping into a whisper making her chuckled softly, finally giving in.
"Fine, then. I want to try Phuchka first." Varenya says kissing the bridge of Kavyansh's nose.
"Good choice." Kavyansh replies leading Varenya toward the vendor.
Within minutes, a plate of crisp, ghugni and water filled delights is placed in front of them. Varenya takes the first bite while her eyes widening in bliss as the tangy tamarind water explodes in her mouth.
"Mmhhm... this is so good!" Varenya moans, making Kavyansh shake his head fondly.
"I swear you sound more sinful eating Phuchka than when you-"
"Kavyansh Singh Rathore!" Varenya shouts smacking his arm as her cheeks feel like burning but Kavyansh only laughs in response.
They continues indulging in the fair's delicacies. Varenya tries Dimer Devil, while Kavyansh happily feeds her bites of his Vegetable Chops. He watches her with admiration, loving the way her face lit up with every new taste.
After they are done eating, they stroll hand in hand while talking about their college days. The fairy lights above them casting a dreamy glow over the entire fair. The gentle breeze carried the mixed scent of candy floss, fried snacks and something floral-Varenya's perfume which Kavyansh loves.
Varenya suddenly stops in her tracks making Kavyansh to turns to look at her, noticing the shift in her mood. Varenya's lips pressed are together while a look of tension appears on her face.
"What happened again?" Kavyansh asks assuming that Varenya may be still thinking about her eating nonveg food.
"Kavi, I need to tell you something." Varenya says looking at Kavyansh.
"What is it, Lotus?" Kavyansh asks sensing the seriousness in her voice.
"I told Kiyansh about my connection with Mamoni and Dadabhai." Varenya replies.
"And how did he take it?" Kavyansh asks after sometime.
"He was struggling to grasp the complexities of our relationships. But I took my time explaining everything at his pace, using simple words and slowly he understood." Varenya says, glancing at Kavyansh.
"You did the right thing. The sooner he knows, the sooner he will understand. He won't have to suffer like we did- left in the dark, forced to piece together the truth on our own." Kavyansh replies as a sigh escapes his lips.
