The hospital hums with its usual rhythm- nurses moving swiftly, doctors discussing cases in hushed tones, patients and visitors filling the corridors with murmurs and hurried footsteps. But to her, everything feels different and brighter. A week has passed since she officially became a Junior Resident Doctor yet the excitement in her heart refuses to settle.
Every time she walks through these halls, the weight of her white coat on her shoulders fills her with pride. It is more than just fabric. It is the embodiment of years of hard work, relentless studying and unwavering determination. Every sleepless night, every exhausting exam, every sacrifice, it has all led her here.
She has spent her entire life dreaming of this. Of saving lives, of making a difference and especially, of following in her father's footsteps. He has been her greatest inspiration since childhood. She has watched him dedicate himself to his work, healing the sick, comforting the helpless and performing miracles with his steady hands. While he is one of the top and respected Surgeons of the country, she is determined to become a great Gynecologist. Her mother, who is a highly accomplished bank manager has always been the pillar of their family- strong, disciplined and endlessly supportive. With parents like them, she has never had the luxury of failure. Success was her only path and she has never strayed from it.
She feels invincible. Because she has everything. A fulfilling career that has only just begun, supportive parents who are endlessly proud of her and a love life that is nothing short of perfect.
A smile tugs at her lips as she steps out of the hospital. The golden hues of the setting sun bathe the parking lot in a warm glow, adding to the lightness in her chest. Her gaze immediately lands on her bike- a sleek, black beauty parked exactly where she left it. It's a gift from her father, a symbol of his faith in her.
Swinging her leg over the seat, she starts the engine. The familiar hum beneath her fingers sends a thrill through her veins. Today is special for her and she has planned so much to celebrate the day. A perfect date, a heartfelt surprise. Because today marked the day, she has completed five years with the love of her life. And nothing could make this day better.
Just as she begins to take a U-turn toward the exit, a car suddenly screeches to a halt right in front of her. Her heart lurches as she gasps, slamming the brakes hard. The tires skid slightly before stopping just inches from the car's front bumper.
Her pulse races with the sudden impact and a sharp spike of anger shoots through her as she swings off the bike, storming toward the driver's side.
Who the hell drives like this?
She knocks on the window sharply, her jaw tight with frustration.
"What the-" But her words die the moment the window rolls down.
The man inside is grinning at her while his dark eyes twinkling with amusement.
"You!" She exclaims, her anger evaporating into shock. Meanwhile, her boyfriend chuckles as his lips pulling into a playful smirk.
"What are you doing here? You were supposed to come in the evening. And what's with this new car?" She demands, folding her arms. He steps out, shutting the door behind him with an easy grace.
"I wanted to surprise you. Thought I would pick you up after your duty but I guess I got a little late." He admits, scratching the back of his head making her narrow her eyes at him.
"Late? You? The most punctual person I know after my Baba? That doesn't sound like you, Mr. Writer." She remarks sarcastically while he laughs.
"Come on, Ms. Doctor. I am human too. One day of being late won't kill me." He retorts and before she can reply, he reaches out and pinches her nose playfully. She groans, swatting his hand away.
"You are impossible." She mutters rolling her eyes.
"And yet, you still love me. Now, get in or we will be late for our date." He says, tone is quite teasing as he goes to open the passanger door for her.
"I can't leave my baby here. Let me park her in the parking lot of the hospital first." She says teasingly, knowing well how much he hates it whenever she calls her bike 'baby. Because apparantly, he is her only baby for now.
"You know exactly what you are doing, right?" He asks with a deadpan look as he stands in front of her while she pinches his cheeks.
"You look extra cute when you get jealous of my bike." She says cooing at him.
"I know." He replies with a grin.
"I was planning to surprise you for once but you ruined it again." She complains.
"Yet, you are going to forgive me, aren't you?" He asks making her huff.,
"Only because today is very special for both of us." She remarks while he casts a loving look at her. He reaches out to gently tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear. Meanwhile, a slow yet breathtaking smile spreads across her face before she throws her arms around his waist, hugging him tightly.
"Happy anniversary, Baby." He whispers.
"Happy anniversary, Prince Charming." She murmurs as she smiles against his chest.
As they hold each other close, the world around them feels warm and safe, filled with love and laughter. He presses a gentle kiss to her head while his arms wrapped around her as if he could keep this moment forever. On the other hand, she feels like nothing could ever go wrong, like life has given her everything she ever wished for. But life has a way of changing when least expected.
Her life is a dream come true- too perfect, almost unreal. A loving family that stands by her through every challenge, a flourishing career that is only just beginning and a relationship so beautiful it feels like a fairytale. She has never known heartbreak, never tasted true loss, never faced a storm that could shake her world. Every step she takes is steady, every plan she makes falls into place. It is as if the universe itself conspires to keep her wrapped in its warmth, untouched by sorrow. But perfection is a fragile thing, an illusion so dazzling that it blinds one to the cracks forming beneath the surface.
Is this flawless life truly unbreakable? Will everything remain the same? Or is the storm already on the horizon, waiting for the perfect moment to strike?
