"You know, it's a good thing that Varenya got the box. It helped her mind fully accept that her parents are truly gone. There was always a tiny hope in the back of her mind that somehow they would come back. That hope was holding her back from grieving properly. That's why she wasn't crying wholeheartedly before." Samarth says, taking a slow sip of his coffee.
"I can't even describe how painful it was to see her crying like that. At one point, I wanted to tell her she didn't need to cry anymore but I stopped myself. If I want her to move forward, I have to let her grieve first." Kavyansh admits, his voice laced with exhaustion as he rubs his face with both hands.
"You did the right thing. Now, we just need to see how she reacts to the letters." Samarth assures him, placing his cup on the table.
"Do you think she will have another breakdown?" Kavyansh asks, his jaw tightens as he looks at Samarth, concern shadowing his tone.
"There is a high chance she will. In fact, it might be worse than before. But then again, we are talking about Varenya. She is quite unpredictable. You know, I have realized something about her." Samarth says, leaning back in his chair.
"What is it?" Kavyansh asks looking curious.
"She has changed. I mean, we both know her from the same time. We have seen how wild and chaotic she can be. She is still the same in a lot of ways but there is something different about her now. A certain kind of maturity has evolved in her character." Samarth says, his voice thoughtful
"Kiyansh is the reason behind that change." Kavyansh says, his lips curve into a soft smile. He leans back while his fingers absentmindedly tracing the rim of his glass.
"Just like I have been putting effort to be a father, trying to make up for the years I wasn't with our son. Lotus is doing the same. She was with him all these years but her mind didn't recognize their bond. Now, she is trying to become his mother in the truest sense." His eyes soften as a memory flashes in his mind.
"You should have seen her, Samarth. The way she danced with him, trying to pull him out of the darkness after what happened in school." His voice trails off, thick with emotion. Meanwhile, Samarth watches him silently for a moment before speaking.
"She is strong. Stronger than even she realizes. But strength doesn't mean she won't break." Samarth says while Kavyansh clenches his jaw, the thought of Varenya breaking again twisting something inside him. But he knows Samarth is right. And if there is one thing about his Lotus, it's that no matter how many times she falls she always finds a way to rise again.
"By the way, how are things going with Nishtha?" Kavyansh asks, taking a sip of his herbal tea.
"We have stopped talking." Samarth lets out a dry chuckle, shaking his head.
"What? Just a few days ago you told me you wanted to propose to her, to tell her how you feel. What the hell happened so suddenly?" Kavyansh asks, his brows knit together in disbelief. Samarth exhales heavily, rubbing a hand over his face.
"She found out about the file, the one private investigator gave me before I could tell her myself. I planned to confess everything but I didn't even get the chance." Samarth admits, his voice laced with regret.
"How did she find out?" Kavyansh asks leaning forward, his expression serious. Samarth clenches his jaw, frustration flickering in his eyes.
"She came to my apartment with Mishka and the file containing all her details was in the living room. I was planning to burn it. But I got distracted playing with Mishka and completely forgot about it. Worse, I left the damn thing open." Samarth begins, his tone stiff.
