One Pup Gets to Finally Protect the Other

Hawks stood in the hospital lobby, studying the update from his agency. They were happy he had kept one of their underground heroes out of the news, but weren't happy with the news that the man was in seclusion due to being feral. They also had reviewed the footage and the man who was in surgery, the 'victim,' was a well-known child molester who would do so no more.

"How are things?" Maki asked as she approached.

"No news aside from they're secure," Hawks sighed. "But I'm worried about when Shou wakes up. I think...they might have separated them."

Maki's worried eyes went hard as she shoved past him. "I WANT WHOEVER IS IN CHARGE OF THE FERAL PAIR!"

"Did your friend just go feral mama bear on behalf of our insomniac?" Nemuri smiled as she strolled up to Hawks.

"Yes," the feathered hero answered. "They tell you anything?"

"Nope," Nemuri huffed. "But you are right. Izuku's not with Shou anymore."

"Dammit," Hawks frowned.

"Double that," Nemuri sighed and nodded toward the elevator as it opened.

Yamada stalked out, Emi close behind with the boys. Hawks turned, on edge in preparation for Yamada going bonkers.

"Are they okay?" Yamada said, coming to stand directly in front of Hawks.

"Yeah," the man assured. "No injuries on either except maybe some light bruising on Izuku from when the guy grabbed him."

"And the man?" Emi asked sweetly.

"Surgery," Nemuri answered. "Our boy...ensured he could never hurt another person in that way ever again."

Emi snickered as Yamada smirked.

"Good," Katsuki grunted. "He's lucky I wasn't there. I woulda blown it up for what he wanted to do to our Zuku."

"Is there enough evidence?" Hitoshi asked, his face serious.

"For kidnapping, yes," Hawks answered.

"But not the rest," Nemuri frowned. "It's Izuku's word against his and I'm not sure our green bean is going to be up to testifying."

Hitoshi smirked. "I wanna talk to him."

Hawks frowned. "Why would you-"

"To brainwash him, Uncle Keigo," Katsuki groaned as if it were the most obvious thing. "And get proof?"

"Confession," Emi corrected. "We could get Maki or that officer who's friends with Shou to be there."

"Which one?" Nemuri asked.

"The young one with the lie detector quirk," Emi beamed. "He'd be able to tell if the guy was telling the truth."

"I'll get it set up," Nemuri snickered. "Yamada, mind if we borrow your brilliant boy?"

The blond looked at his son. "You want to see them first or-"

"No, I want to make sure this asshole doesn't get away with it," Hitoshi cut in. "You said he smelled like burnt bread, right?"

"Yep," Hawks confirmed. "And called Izuku his toy."

"Yeah...that's the guy that started all that stuff that happened to Izuku," Hitoshi confirmed. "He was the first one."

Hawks felt his feathers ruffle as he held back a growl. "You sure, fledgling?"

"Positive," Hitoshi assured. "It will be my pleasure to ensure he gets what's coming to him. Besides, I think they need you more than me. I'll come if you need me, though."
