Yamada smiled as he opened the door for his family. Izuku was still sleeping comfortably in Aizawa's arms, and his powerful alpha had calmed down enough for them to be allowed to go home. The blond watched his mate carry their son to the boys' room and into the nest.
"Do you mind if dad sleeps with you guys tonight?" Yamada asked Hitoshi as the boy helped carry in all the shopping.
"I sorta figured he probably would since he hasn't let go of Zuku yet," Hitoshi smiled. "They will be okay, right, Papa?"
"It might take some time, but yes, they'll be fine," Yamada assured as he locked the door. He paused and then double-checked it was secured.
"Papa, go ahead and check the house. I'll get the bags into the living room for tomorrow," Hitoshi offered gently.
Yamada felt like they were blessed with two boys who seemed to understand certain needs. He gave in to his instincts for a moment and went through their entire home to double-check every window and potential entry point. Once his omega was satisfied, he joined Hitoshi in the living room. The boy was staring at one of the bags.
"What is it?" Yamada frowned.
Hitoshi offered the mug he held in his hands to his papa. "The cashier left a note...these were the mugs Zuku had been looking at when that man took him. They included them as an apology for not doing more."
Yamada smiled fondly at the creative mug. "They feel bad, just like we do, that he was able to get his hands on Izuku like that. That's one reason your dad hasn't let him go."
Hitoshi frowned. "I...I don't know that I want us to go back to school."
"Oh, why, sweetheart?" Yamada asked as he sat down next to his son.
"I...I'm worried that I'll go feral like dad," Hitoshi whispered.
Yamada just set his hand on his son's back, listening as he just let Hitoshi talk.
"I'm already on edge, and we're home," Hitoshi continued. "I...what if one of the others comes back? What if there's a bad person at the school and they see this as an opportunity? What if another alpha decided to -"
Yamada decided it was to step in. "Take a breath, kiddo."
Hitoshi took a shaky breath and looked up at his papa. Yamada smiled very gently at him.
"I can say this with total honesty," Yamada explained gently. "No one is going to judge you for feeling this way or needing to take a break from school. I figured your dad wouldn't want to let your brother out of his sight for a while, either. I'll give your school a call and see about putting you on an extended break."
Hitoshi listened and shifted, so he was leaning against Yamada. "I... don't know that I want to go back for a long while. I...I need to know he'll be okay."
"And we'll make sure he will be," Yamada promised. "I'm sure your Uncle Gari is going to be so excited that the panic button worked just like he wanted it to."
"He's gonna fight for it to have a stun gun or something," Hitoshi snickered, starting to relax in his papa's warmth.
Yamada smiled and pulled him close, then paused and laughed softly. He felt Hitoshi's eyes on him, and he snuggled his son.
"You smell like your dad when he's in a rut," Yamada explained. "You two really were meant to be our kids."
"Wait...dad's in a rut? Is it safe?" Hitoshi asked, the fear starting to bubble back in.
Yamada shifted so he could lean against the couch but kept Hitoshi close.
"Your dad is not like those men, my love," Yamada assured. "You see, a lot of what's taught about ruts and heats are not true."
