Chapter 63

Nova

Is it bad that I don't want to tell them? I don't want to lie to them, I told them most of what has happened while only sparing them a few details, but everyone seemed to be in a much better mood then they where when I left. I don't want to ruin it by telling them what it is.

"Nova. What is it?" Lorenzo sort of snaps.

I run my tongue over my top teeth before sighing. "Okay but like don't freak out." I say.

"Now why would you go and say something like that?" Mar says. "Now everyone is going to freak out.

"No really its not that big of a deal." I say.

"Yeah now even I have a hard time believing that." Elio says.

"Tell us Nova." Toni says.

"Okay fine. I broke my ribs a little while back and they are still healing. Before you say anything, it really isn't a big deal. It has happened before -that is why it is taking longer for them to get better. And yes they are already doing better then they were." I say and am faced with several blank stares. 

Matteo moves towards me with softened eyes. "Can you show me?" He asks. 

"I guess so." I say lifting up my hoodie. I hear multiple gasps and then another pair of feet step closer. "That is definitely not my definition of not a big deal. Nova why didn't you say anything?" Lorenzo says.

"Because I didn't need you guys to fuss over it for one. For two I didn't know you guys when I first got here-"

"THAT LONG?" Elio yells and my eyes widen. 

"Jeez I wasn't ready for that. Give a girl a warning so I can plug my ears next time."

"Sorry" he mumbles. 

"Listen its fine-"

"How did you break your ribs?" Lorenzo asks. 

"Well you see, that is a funny story, and I think you guys are really going to laugh." I say trying to lighten the mood but no one takes the bait.

"Who." Andres speaks up. His eyes glaring at the bruising. 

I sigh before meeting each of there eyes. "It was Greg." 

"Greg? As in Greg Hale? The people who had you all this time? The one who has put you in the hospital before?" Mar goes off on a rant.

"Yes, and because I have been in the hospital at his hands I do not think we should be making this a big deal. Now if you will excuse me-"

"Nova I need to wrap this." Matteo says.

"I wrap it before I go to sleep." I say.

"Well it will heal faster if it is wrapped more. Did you not go see a doctor?" He asks worriedly.

"I already knew what it was. Plus its not the first time I have had broken ribs so I knew what I should have been doing." I tell him.

"Wait you went out as Wendigo while injured?" Toni asks.

"Yeah so?"

"That is so reckless!"

"No its not." I say.

"Oh really? Explain how that isn't reckless."

"Well for one I can move around like nothing for the most part, for two they didn't touch me and never got the chance, for three if something were to of happened I have a high pain tolerance." I say with a shrug.

"Sorella, you really shouldn't be fighting like this." Matteo says.

"I have fought in worse situations, and it was barely a fight. I just killed their asses. Everyone here has fought with something wrong. I fought with healing ribs, that doesn't stop me from being able to move my legs or lift up my arm to shoot. And I don't think we should have a pointless argument when I am standing right here and fine. It isn't gonna get us anywhere." 

"She is right." Elio says and I shoot a smile his way. "We shouldn't argue right now it isn't gonna get us anywhere but pissed at one another."

"You know maybe Elio has some of the brains in this family." I say sarcastically. "He must have absorbed all there was to offer while in the womb with Toni." I say sending a sarcastic smile towards Toni.

He glowers at me while Andres chuckles. That makes Toni turn to give his best friend a glare. He tries to stifle it while covering his mouth with his hand. 

I look around the room realizing something.

"Hey where is Bullet?" I ask.

"Oh shit!" Elio says before bolting up the stairs.

"What did he do?" I ask and everyone shrugs. Five seconds later I hear a bark and then bullet comes running down the stairs.

"I totally shut him in my room forgetting he was there!" Elio says while coming back down the stairs.

"You locked my dog in your room?" 

"I didn't mean to!" He says while I crouch down and pet Bullet.

"I really hope he pissed on your bed." I say with a smirk.

"That is not funny." Elio says.

"I was being serious." I say with a raised brow. "Isn't that right boy. Did you get revenge on Elio for locking you up? Yeah?" I say to Bullet. I stand up and go over to sit on the couch. bullet comes over laying on one side of me while resting his head on my lap. 5 seconds later someone else sits down on the other side of me and I look up to see Andres. He takes his phone out and starts scrolling like nothing.

"Dude." Toni snaps making Andres look up. "Why are you sitting so close to my sister?" Andres shrugs before looking back to his phone causing Toni to narrow his eyes further. He shifts his glance to me and I also shrug and continue to pet Bullet.
