Robert rolled over in bed, reaching out for Andy, only to find she wasn't there. The baby monitor confirmed that she was not with Bella, leaving him to wonder where she might be. He got up and checked Alex's room first, but he was fast asleep in bed. As he descended the stairs, he tried to be careful of the creaky steps.
"Hey, are you alright?" Robert asked, sitting next to her on the sofa.
"I'm struggling to come to terms with the reality that my dad is dying," Andy said softly. "I just don't know how to process all of this. I'm supposed to enjoy our wedding, knowing he will pass away just months after?"
"Let's approach this one day at a time and take it week by week. We can navigate this together, step by step," Robert reassured her.
"We have thirty-one days until we get married. I haven't done any preparation," Andy replied.
"First, let's sleep, and then we can start tomorrow," Robert suggested.
"Okay, but I also need to pick up my results. They'll say there's nothing wrong," she replied.
"Alright, I could come with you if you want," Robert offered.
"It's fine. I'll be there for just a couple of minutes. There's no need for both of us to go; the kids will get restless," she said.
He agreed, and they went to bed, but she barely slept. When it turned seven in the morning, Bella and Alex woke up. She attempted to get up, but Robert told her to stay in bed and try to sleep. Unable to rest, Andy got up and began preparing for the day.
"I've asked Ben to take care of the kids for a couple of hours so I can come with you and look at wedding ideas," Robert said. Although Andy wanted to do it alone, she was okay with him being there.
"I don't know why they couldn't just send a letter or a text message saying the tests are all clear," she said as they waited to be called in.
"Which means there's something wrong. You've been tired, and you've been sick a few times. Most days, we put it down to tiredness, but maybe there's more to it," he told her.
"Doctor: 'Andrea Herrera!'" he called out.
They stood up and followed him into the room.
"Thank you for coming to discuss your test results today. I know this news can be surprising, but I want to let you know that your test indicates you are pregnant," the doctor said.
"That can't be right. I would know," she responded, her voice filled with disbelief.
"I think that might help explain why you've been feeling so tired and a bit unwell lately," Robert gently remarked.
"I can't be; I don't feel ready for this," she said, her eyes welling with emotion. Overwhelmed, she quickly left the room and exited the doctor's office, seeking air to process the news.
Robert went out to look for her, but she was gone. He tried calling her, but she didn't answer. He left messages, but she still didn't respond. Growing anxious, he got in the car and drove home, hoping she would be there, but she wasn't. He texted Ryan and Ben, wondering if they had seen or heard from Andy, but they hadn't.
"You must call your partner and let him know you're safe and okay," Rosie suggested. Andy had gone straight to Rosie's apartment, knowing Robert would look everywhere except there.
Robert began to worry as the hours passed with no sign of her. He tried asking everyone again, but no one had seen or heard from her.
A message from Ryan to Rosie read: "I don't suppose you've seen Andy, have you? No one has seen her all day."
