Danny POV
Lunch was great with the family and after Brook heard about Ashlynns life she was more friendly and open with her. It did surprise me though that when we got to the signing the pack ceremony that Brook offered to show her the bathroom.
Alpha Mike was standing in the hall were the ceremony was being held looking stressed out of his mind. "You shouldn't look so nervous. I'm not that bad of an alpha." I joked walking up to him. He gave me a smile and laughed letting some of his stress leave. "I wish that was why I'm so nervous." "How is she?" Mikes mate, Jena, was deadly sick from an infection she got from when she got injured in a rogue attack. He was signing over the pack because he didn't think he was going to be able to take care of her and a pack. Also they weren't sure if she was going to make it and he knew that it was awful when a pack was ran by an alpha that lost his mate. The wolf usually goes crazy without his mate making the Alpha choices not rational.
"Actually, a lot better. We are staring to think she might make it." "You don't have to sign over the pack." "I want to. My time as alpha is up and I would rather spend the rest of my life with my mate. Plus, your leadership is just going to get stronger, I herd you met your other half." I couldn't stop my smile from growing as he said that. "I did, she's absolutely perfect." "Yeah, John's step daughter is pretty great." He agreed, I was going along with it until a realised something. "Wait, you knew about her?" "Of course I know, I didn't say anything because Rebecca doesn't want people to know, it's a shame really. Plus I was hopping that you would figure it out yourself." That man was always giving me challenges to figure out.
In the corner of my eye I saw Dave and Ashlynn's Mother walk out of the room. "Go figure what that's all about, it doesn't start for another hour anyways." Mike said talking about the two that left. I took that as my chance to set my plan in action. I said my thanks, before running out of the room and down the hall following their scents. I followed them right into a living room on the opposite side of the house.
"Why didn't you tell me?!" Dave roared. I was hidden on the other side of the door out of their sight. "Tell you what?" Rebecca played innocent. "That you gave birth to my daughter!" "Oh, so you wanted that mistake! I was trying to be helpful saving you from the shame of having to be that THING'S parent." It was taking everything in me to not go into that room and freak out, but I knew I had to hear everything that was being said. "That thing, is my daughter! She is beautiful and sweet, but she sad and scared. Probably because the only parent she knows hates her. She is no mistake though, the few moments I got to talk to her I'm already proud to say that I'm her father. I'm telling her, and hopefully she will except me as her father." "Why would you do that? You have a mate and a beautiful family, why would you risk that and your reputation for just some girl?" "Your right I have a great family. An Amazing mate, awesome son's, a powerful God son and a hilarious nephew, but she's not just some girl. She's my daughter and everyone in my family already excepts that. I'm not risking anything if I don't care about what people think of me."
I heard enough. I knew that Dave was going to do the right thing and tell Ashlynn, but I had to go make myself known. As I stepped in the room Rebecca's and Dave's head snapped to see me. "Dave." I gave him a smile telling him I heard everything and I was happy to hear that he was my mates father. The man practically raised me, I couldn't be any happier that he was Ashlynn missing parent. "Danny." Dave returned the same smile. "How do you to know each other?" "Well lets start from the beginning, He's the Alpha, I was his fathers beta. Oh, he's my God son and my favorite on the list is He's OUR daughters mate." Rebecca cringed at the word our. "You can clam her all you want, but she is not my daughter." That comment earned a growl from both Dave and me at her. The noise was thunderous and threatening pouring out of the room and down the hall. I wasn't surprised when I saw her shrivel away. "I don't care if you claim her as your daughter. That's your lost, but you will tell her who her father is. She deserves that, and Dave is an amazing father and he deserves to know his daughter. So I don't care what you think or what you do, but your both telling her and it will be tonight." My voice left no room for argument.
