Chapter 28
Ashlynn POV
You know when you are sitting out side and the wind blows for the first time in a while and how you feel it. Then after a while even as the wind continues to blow you just get so use to it that you forget to feel it across your face. That's how life is, when something dramatic changes you feel it, but after a while You begin to forget what it was originally like and only remember how it is now with the change. I still remember every moment with my mother, but after a while I began not being able to even think about how life was if I never met Danny. He is like my oxygen and has been sense day one.
It was two weeks after my 18th birthday and about four weeks after I first met Danny when this realization occurred to me. I was standing in the laundry room folding clothes and just enjoying the quiet. My stomach was beginning to become noticeable and my scent had already completely changed. It was the first time sense the accident when Danny, Tyler, Brandon, Conner or Tanner wasn't breathing down my throat to make sure I was okay. "Baby where are you?" Danny yelled down the hall as I was switching loads. "I'm in the laundry room!" I yelled back. "I didn't know it was over here." Danny responded surprised with his head popping through the door frame. "That's because you don't even now how to work one of these." Danny laughed as he wrapped his arms around my growing waist. "You shouldn't be either. You don't know what could happen?" "Danny, don't be ridiculous how many washing machine accidents are there actually in one year for you to be concern." "Well I looked it up..." "Why in the world would you look it up?" He shrugged and gave me his signature heart warming smile. "I was worried about you."
"Of course you were." I said rolling my eye's before pulling out of his hold and walking out of the room. "Angel I'm alway's worried about you." He whinned as he caught up to me. "I never said you weren't, but don't you think you worry to much. I am capable of doing laundry or cooking dinner without killing myself." "But you never now there are freak accidents all the time." I stopped in the middle of the main entrance, near the bottom of the stairs, and turned to look at my crazy mate. He truly had no idea how insane he actually sounded. Normal people don't worry about weather or not their other half is going to die or get injured from doing laundry or cooking, yet Danny and I were far from being normal. "No I don't worry..." Danny was cut off by the door bell blaring through the house. It was one of the first times I actually heard it used because most people just walk in, even Tyler started just walking in because he was visiting so much. With a dramatic eye roll Danny pulled away from me and went to open the door suspecting it was just some kid playing a prank.
When Danny flung open the door with anger, I couldn't stop the gasp that escaped my lips. Standing at the door was the most frightening man I had ever seen. He had a bald head and shoulders like he was wearing football gear. His arm's where the size of pillers and covering every inch of them were tattoos. The man's eyes looked tired and if it wasn't for the small wrinkles that covered his face it would have been impossible to tell how old he was. His eye's were grey, but even with his scary manner you could tell he was worn out and slowly dieing emotionally. Without warning Danny pulled me impossibly close to him and snarled at the man. He had been freaking out at everyone that came near me sense the accident. What surprised me even more was the deep laugh that rumbled out of the man. It was a warm cheerful laugh that reminded me of Santa Claus. "I see the king wasn't lying, the Prince did meet his mate and she's pregnant. He didn't mention that." Another snarl ripped through Danny and his grip tightened.
The man held his hands up in surrender and gave us a big toothy smile. "I'm not going to do anything, I am the Highest General of the kings army and is in charge of all training and his protection. It is protocol for me to come a week before he does to check the area." Danny rolled his eye's dramatically, before turning his head with out inviting the guest in. "Conner, Brandon!" Danny roared across the house. Instead of them coming Mia and Elissa come out." "Andrew, Conner and Brandon are out buying something." Mia answered. "What are they buying?" Danny asked worried. The three of them together was never a good thing. "None of your business." Elissa said with a smirk. Which only caused Danny to growl. He was getting really good with not being able to control his anger. "Elissa just because I am not your alpha yet..." "You might never be with the way Brandon moving. We were about to mate before the accident and now he's always doing something or sleeping." I turned back to the man ignoring the craziness that had became so normal to me. "Please come in and ignore them, this will probably continue for the rest of the day if we let it." I said politely to the man, giving him a breathless laugh. No matter how hard I tried I was just so awkward around New people.
