one month later

"ashton!" i banged on his door roughly. april was clutching my hand and i powered my phone on to look at the time. fuck i was late.

the door swung open a couple seconds later, ashton wearing jeans and a t-shirt like he was ready to go out. i didn't bother questioning him, instead motioning for april to go in. "i need you to watch her."

"i can't i have to-" the curly haired boy started to object.

"thank you! love you babe!" i planted a quick kiss on his cheek before rushing off towards the stairs.

if only i had just asked someone else

ashton's pov

i looked down at april, her brown eyes staring into my hazel ones. i looked away first and grabbed my phone out, pressing it against my ear as it started to ring. "hello?"

"yeah, maya i can't come in today."

"yeah, irwin i'll fire you. it's a full house tonight."

and with that she ended the call.

"can we play uno?" april tugged on my hand and i closed my eyes, taking deep breaths. "you have to go to work with me actually, but when we're done we'll stay up all night."

"yes!" she squealed and started to tug me out the door. i grabbed my coat and quickly locked up before we left the building.

we walked down the street, my hands shaking because fuck i'm in so much trouble. music was blaring from the corner and i clutched april's hand tigher before walking around through the back door. all the girls where getting ready, paisely turning her head to the door first.

her eyes widened and she stood up from her chair and rushed over to me, landing a harsh slap to my cheek. "what the fuck are you doing?"

"i- i had to maya was going to fire me and cal was late for something-"

"so you brought his kid to a strip joint?" her arms folded across her chest and i sighed. "please, can you just watch her?"

"i'm about to go on-" she started but april cut her off.

"where are your clothes?"

"i get paid to not wear any sweetheart." she shushed her and i gritted my teeth.

"irwin why is there a-" ashley walked in and froze. "i thought she was joking."

i ignored her, picking april up and setting her down on one of the stools. beck turned in her chair, a tube of lipstick in her hand and she smiled. "what's your name?"

"april florence hood." she recited perfectly and beck raised an eyebrow at me. "i'll watch her, i go on after you anyways."

my eyes widened and i pulled her into a tight hug, the jewls on her bra pressing against my skin but ignored it. "thank you so much i owe you."

"it's not a problem, i've got three little ones at home anyways." she ushered my off and i ran kissed april's cheek. "i'll be back in a bit okay?"

sweat was pooling down my forhead, another dollar bill being shoved into the waistband of my white panties as i spun around. everyone hollered and my heels clicked as i walked off stage. "a thousand at the most."

i choked. "t-thousand?"

"i told you it was full house." maya slapped my back and i nodded, wiping the sweat off my forhead and seeing beck walk passed me.

i quickly ran back into the dressing rooms, sighing when seeing april was still on the stool where i left her. i grabbed my clothes and put them on before she noticed me and snuck up behind her. "ready to go?"

april shook her head no. "look what beck did!"

i looked in the mirror, seeing mascara on her eyes and eyeliner rounding them. i laughed making her pout. "can i keep it?"

"i'm afraid not princess." i grabbed one of the make up remove wipes and started to smear it off. once i was done we left, april on my back as we made our way back to the house. "did you have fun?"

"yeah, beck is really cool." she mumbled probably tired as it was around one in the morning. as soon as the brown building came into view i walked a little faster, stepping inside the building and letting the airconditioning blast me.

i made my way up the stairs and to my apartment. "hold tight really quick."

april tightened her grip on my and i let go of her, taking out my keys and unlocking the front door. i pushed it open and kicked it closed behind me as i switched on the hallway light. "are you hungry?"

i set her down on the floor and she yawned, putting her hair up in a bun and i smiled. "can we make pasta?"

i nodded, going into the kitchen and grabbing a pot. april climbed up on the counter and watched as i filled the pot with water and set it on the stove, flicking the switch on. "does calum let you have pasta this late?"

"i wish." she pouted and i grabbed the spaghetti down from the cabinet. "you must be living in the wrong house then." i faked gasped and april giggled.

"you look a lot like him." i smiled and put the pasta in as the water started to boil. i hopped up onto the counter across april, a small blush on her cheeks. "that's what everyone says."

"just be glad you don't have my genes." i laughed and april snapped her head up. "i want curly hair!"

"no you don't, you'll break so many brushes." i waved her off and she shrugged. "it's still pretty."

"pretty hurts." i grabbed something to stir the pasta with from the drawer under me and moved it slowly around the pot. "should be done in a few minutes. movie?"

april nodded her head eagerly and jumped off the counter, running towards the living room since she knew where i kept everything already.

i tried to ignore the thought she knew where my job was at, at least one of them. once the pasta was done i drained it and grabbed two bowls. after they had an equal amount i topped it off with pasta sauce and grabbed two forks. "what movie?"

"the last holiday."

i handed her her bowl and we sat on the couch as the movie started to play.

"i still don't know how they got away with this." i muttered as the credits started to roll in. april was half asleep, forcing herself to stay awake but i poked her side. "you're not going to tell calum about- you know."

april looked at me, her face blank before she smiled. "no, you make my dad happy i don't want you guys to break up."

i sighed.

"but," i tensed. "you have to tell him before the end of the year, i don't like you lying to him like that."

i nodded in understanding. "okay."

april held out her pinky. "promise?"

i linked it with my own, shaking it a few times. "promise."

"good." she half smiled and her eyes finally closed as she passed out on the couch. i chuckled lightly, getting up and grabbing a blanket and throwing it over her.
