"it worries me that you drink so much chocolate milk." i stared at april as she shrugged her shoulders, continuing to suck out her straw. i propped my elbow up on the table and leaned my head against my hand, admiring the little creation in front of me. "do you want to play monopoly?"

she stopped sucking and leaned back in her chair clearing her throat. "are you prepared to lose?"

"no i'm too focused on winning." i got up from the table but she stopped me. she sat on her knees and leaned across the table, tying her hair up in a bun.

i tried to get up again and she stopped me. "tell ashton to bring monopoly over his is nicer."

i grabbed my phone and sent him a text, waiting a few minutes before getting the okay. "he'll be over in- i guess now?" i stopped once hearing the knock at the door. april ran towards and it swung it open, engulfing ashton into a hug." i saw you yesterday was that not enough?"

"it'll never be enough." she exclaimed, letting go and running back over to her seat. "you're the banker."

"couldn't your dad have been the banker?"

"no you have to be."

"but-"

"no buts."

"no buts." he repeated and took a seat to the side of us. he placed the fancy board on the table and i questioned it. "how did you get such a nice monopoly board?"

"i know people."

"i call the cat!"

"cats are disgusting."

"you're disgusting."

"you just called yourself disgusting." i started up the game and she rolled her eyes. "i want to be the banker."

"why so you can give yourself extra money like last time?" i questioned curiously and she groaned. "i wasn't cheating you were just losing!"

"you had almost a million dollars! i don't even think this game comes with a million dollars! i am literally positive you had real money in your pile." i pointed at her and she held her hands up in defense.

"i guess i'll be the hat?"

"false, take the thimble." i handed it over to him and he rolled his eyes. "thimble my ass."

i grabbed the dice, getting ready to roll because first come first serve is the rule before april shouted. "wait! i want to make a deal!"

ashton and i looked at eachother but nodded in agreement. she smiled and crossed her hands in front of her. "if i win between both of you, you get married again. if i lose, then i will do chores for an entire month."

"till the end of the year."

she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, mumbling to herself along the lines 'for cashton' before saying, "deal."

we all shook hands with eachother in agreement and i rolled the dice, scoring a double six and i sighed in relief. "i'm so ready to watch you clean a toilet."

i moved my piece along the board to the correct space and handed the dice over to april. "you came here last so you've been shamed with it." i laughed but as i looked over at ashton he was just smiling at the board. as soon as it went quiet he snapped out of it. "what? oh i don't mind last."

"he just countered your weak insult." april rolled the dice and scored a 3. she moved her piece and handed the dice to ashton who rolled a careless seven.

and repeat.

my hand was gripping ashton's arm tightly, the both of us nervously sweating as we stared at the game board. it's been an hour of placing this game, it now being almost midnight but i've never felt so awake.

april had managed to take park place and boardwalk, added hotels to each and has devoured half of the board from the right of pass go to the jail. ashton and i decided to work together after april said she'd allow it and we took the other side from her.

i counted our bills as she rolled the dice again, missing the only hotel spot we had and landed on a chance spot. she picked a card up before grinning, "you've just won a race collect two hundred." she held her hand out and i gave her the money. i nudged ashton at the small wad of cash we had together and he bit his bottom lip. i rolled the dice, scoring a three and thanking god we landed in just visiting. the spot over had two houses on it.

april picked the dice up again and rolled, getting an eight and ashton and i's breath hitched as she landed on one of the last spots she needed to start putting hotels on another set of land. "you know what i want." she grinned as she grabbed the correct amount of cash and i handed her the card. "i'll also take a hotel and two houses."

i gave her the little red piece and she happily placed it on the spot. "let's just hope you don't roll a seven."

she showed the card to me and in fact, the biggest coincidence i have ever experienced in my entire life, was all the cash we had on us was to be given to her.

"you rolled a seven to start with so i'll roll." i said, reaching for the dice but ashton quickly snatched them, shook them around in his hand and carelessly rolled them on the board.

it was a six.

i moved the piece to the spot and april showed me the card. i paid the amount and looked down at the sad stash of ones. she rolled again and passed go and i gave her the two hundred. "roll or just get married now."

ashton rolled the dice and i sighed as we landed on a chance card, picking it up carelessly before reading it.

"i'm glad that our marriage decision came from losing at monopoly to a nine year old." i chuckled but froze as i read over the card with a small diamond ring on it.

chance, will you marry me? if yes, advance to luxury tax

i looked up from it, staring at april and then to ashton who was smiling at me. i took my playing piece and placed it on luxury tax, april silently cheering to herself. ashton looked over at april and smiled at her, turning the side my piece was on towards him and sliding up a little key under the space.

"calum thomas hood, i swear to god if you make me do this for a third time i promise you it will be less original." he chuckled. underneath the space was a hollowed out section where a ring was,

the same ring he gave me to me before.

he grabbed my hand gently, stopping at the tip of my ring finger. "is it a yes?"

i glanced down at the ring before looking up at ashton. april was staring intently before groaning. "ashton he said yes i have read his mind."

i laughed a little before grabbing the ring and sliding it on myself. "it's a yes."
