chapter 47

“I’m home!”

I took a deep breath, jitters of nerves slipping down my spine. This feeling was different from last time. I hid behind the bedroom door in the dark, waiting for his footsteps. Strangely enough, an odd feeling of deja vu flew over me and I shook my head, concentrating on what I was to do next.

“Eli!”

I heard the sound of the front door closing and I grinned; Zayn could be heard thumping his feet on the ground as he tried to remove the snow from his shoes. With a rough cough, he began walking towards our bedroom until finally, he walked in.

Zayn didn’t even notice me standing in the shadows as he called my name once more.

“She just disappears…” He muttered, unbuttoning his shirt. Taking that as cue, the door tip-toed shut from the force of my hand and he spun around, narrowing his eyes when he saw me standing behind the door.

A grin curled my lips as I began walking towards him. The confusion in his eyes was replaced with a blazing daze, a half smile creeping onto his face as his gaze travelled down my body.

Wrapping my arms around his neck, I kissed him on his nose. “Happy birthday, big boy.”

Zayn laughed and in that moment of weakness, I swiftly pushed him down onto the love seat.

Zayn looked up at me with shock and surprise and with a devious grin, I untied my bathrobe and it fell down my body, leaving me completely naked.

His eyes widened, the smile flickering off his face like a fire blurred by rain.

“Eli… You feeling okay?”

“I should be asking you the same question,” I said, before quickly sitting on his lap, feeling him grow against my thigh. Our lips connected almost instantly in a lustful angst and simple desire, his fingertips roaming my skin as though I were just another instrument begging to be played.

“It’s about you tonight.” I whispered, “You, Zayn.”

He didn’t respond, his lips ravenously attacking mine, his hands searching for ecstasy as he grabbed me.

I kissed him back with all that I had, afraid that I was losing control, afraid that like every other time I would give in to my craving. The stubble on his face prickled my skin as his lips travelled down to the curve of my neck. He closed his eyes when I pulled his shirt off of his body, doing to him what he did to me.

It took me more than a minute to realize that we were no longer on the sofa, Zayn had moved so fast; he was hovering over me, naked, his groans echoing inside of me.

“If it’s about me,” Zayn growled, his hot breath like the whiplash of a flame, “Then it’s about you.”

In that moment, nothing was sexier than Zayn – his love was monstrous, each thrust of his sending me into another wild frenzy as he muttered my name, his eyes closing as he drilled deeper and harder into me. Insanity was at my fingertips, my nails digging into his back as I moaned, taken with the way he possessed me.

“Eliza… Oh, fuck.” The sound of his raspy voice, the sweat pearling on his forehead, the way he felt was enough to send me to paradise but before I knew it, it was over.

“Oh my god,” I was trembling, my hands grabbing the blanket. My body was convulsing in his grasp and then I felt myself letting go, the dominos finally falling.

That was not my plan.” I turned to look at Zayn who’d begun to whistle in the dark. I sighed. “Happy birthday, Zayn.”

“Thanks.”

“I didn’t get you anything, you know, because I’m a little broke.”

“That was all I needed.”

I laughed and then he pulled away from me, suddenly. “I almost forgot!”

“Forgot what?” I asked, getting up and looking at him as he dug into his jean pocket. He pulled something out and before I could get a glimpse of it, he crawled back onto the bed. I was about to say something when Zayn shushed me.

“Close your eyes.”

“Why?”

“Just close them.”

“Okay…” I said, a bit worried. I shut my eyelids tightly, waiting for him to tickle me or attack me in one way or another when I felt the coolness of a silver ring being slipped onto my finger. My eyes flew open and I looked at him smiling at me.

Looking down, I looked at the ring.

It was a thin, silver band.

“They’re not diamond earrings but I figured you’d like it. I didn’t get you anything for Christmas, either. I don’t know.”

“Your simplicity is the reason I love you.”

Zayn smiled, “You know. After a while… It’ll leave an imprint.”

“What do you mean?”

Suddenly his phone began ringing and he reached over and grabbed it. With a wink and a smile, he picked up.

“Vas happenin?”

The look on his face changed from heaven to hell in a matter of a millisecond. He got up, throwing the blankets off of us as he looked at me, eyes widening. My heart felt like it was trying to jump out of my chest, my anxiety rising to an insane level.

“We’re coming.”

He hung up before looking at me with worry in his eyes.

“Eliza. Your grandfather. He doesn’t have much time.”
