Matthew leaned against the wall in his house, staring at a picture. He sniffed, looking at his notebook. Earlier he had added yet another tally mark to keep count. His family was yet again ignoring him, so he had counted to keep track.

He sighed, glancing at his phone. Tweanty minutes since she last sent him a text. Now his girlfriend was ignoring him.

The French-Canadian looked at the knife in his hand. He knew no one was going to miss him. They had to know he was alive to miss him dead. He raised the knife up, moving to stab his own heart.

Yet he looked up when he felt a gloved hand catch his wrist right before he got to his heart. Standing in front of him was the Alaskan he thought was ignoring him.

Dika carefully took the knife out of the blond's hand, throwing it on the floor. She took out a piece of paper in her pocket. It had been a joke between the two to write a message for the other on a sheet of paper when the two were working in the same room. She opened it, showing Matthew what it said.

He looked at her, pulling her to him. He hugged her tightly, crying into her shoulder. She rubbed his hair, whispering c sweet things into his ear to calm him down. The paper fell to the ground, the message facing the ceiling.

'I notice you.'
