Matthew looked at his girlfriend who was sitting under a tree. She looked sad, almost on the point of tears. He wanted to make her smile since she had done that to him so many times. He walked over and sat down next to the girl.
"Dika?" he asked, looking at her. She only glanced at him before looking down again.
"Hi Matthew," she mumbled.
"What's wrong?" he asked, getting worried about her. Well more worried than he already was.
"I had a fight with Alfred's boss. It didn't end so well.... I don't really want to talk about it."
"Would a little maple make you feel better?" he asked her since he had a bottle in hand.
"I don't want anything right now Matt," the Alaskan groaned. "Besides, there is no way maple can make you happy no matter what."
"It can too," Matthew inserted. "At least try it. If it doesn't work I'll leave you alone."
"Fine," Dika grumbled, taking the bottle of maple. She drank a little, glancing at the bottle. Her face flashed with happiness, looking up at him. "What the hell is in this?"
"Just maple syrup," Matthew giggled, kissing her cheek. "Told you it would work."
"Come here you maple loving Canadian," she giggled, pulling him over to her, kissing him.
Maple really could work wonders, can't it?
