Hey everyone!!! I feel like it's been ages since I've posted anything at all. I've been teasing this potential new book for a while (unintentionally) because life has been soooo busy! But I thought I'd drop a little oneshot of how the book might go. It's Liz X OC and I want to include some themes I haven't really before like sexuality, identity, maybe addiction(?)... Anyway, I really want to know your thoughts! Don't be shy and drop a comment. Enjoy ;)
The sun was only just rising in the sky when Jordan stepped out onto the balcony with her coffee. She leaned her forearms on the railings and took in a slow breath, appreciating the cooler air before taking a sip of her coffee. For a moment, Jordan contemplated a cigarette but it wasn't yet 7 AM, and she was still trying so hard to be more conscious of her smoking.
She'd tried to sleep in but her brain was still wired from the night before. Their argument, although solved, wasn't completely healed. Words had been thrown and wounds both old and new had surfaced, and they each knew it would take time to process the weight of the conflict. But processing didn't mean distance, or hate, or awkward. It meant gentle, and space, and thought.
So, Jordan gently gave her the space to think. They had apologised when the yelling stopped and tried to settle back into the normalcy of their Friday night routine, but it was near impossible. Jordan left Liz to her own devices in the music room and instead took a shower, giving herself some time to recover. She'd even attempted the basics of a skin care routine, although even the indulgence of her newest and most expensive products weren't distracting her nearly enough.
When the time felt right, she emerged back into their shared bedroom, unsure of the protocol for after a fight. Should they sleep apart? There was plenty enough bedrooms but it didn't feel right. And one step towards the bed made the decision for Jordan.
Under the covers, curled into herself, was Liz. Softly sniffling into her sleeve as her body shook with sobs. There was no way Jordan would be leaving her to sleep alone. So despite the hurt that still felt fresh, she slipped into bed and turned Liz inwards, who didn't make a single effort to fight the action. Instead, she folded into Jordan's chest and let herself cry until she sent herself to sleep.
With those memories still playing on Jordan's mind, she wasn't sure how they were supposed to go about their day now. Their Saturday plans of brunch and a dog walk seemed a little out of reach currently. But they could make it work.
Working towards just that, Jordan finished her coffee and headed back into the bedroom to wake Liz. But Liz was up and about already, if the noise of the shower and Spotify was anything to go off of. Jordan left the coffee mug on the dresser and knocked on the bathroom door, a couple of times with no answer. She softly turned the handle, wondering if Liz had locked it. (A sure fire sign she wanted to be left alone).
To her surprise, the door opened. It was hard to see anything through the ridiculous amount of steam curling around the room, but Jordan could see Liz perfectly. She hadn't yet noticed Jordan at all, back to her as she rinsed the shampoo from her hair and hummed to the music - a song Jordan didn't recognise at all.
Slowly, she dropped her black shorts and boxers and took off her T-shirt, leaving them in a pile that she kicked aside for later. She stepped into the shower behind Liz, still oblivious, and softly wrapped her arms around her mid section.
"Oh. Hi." Liz murmured lowly, leaning back into Jordan's embrace.
"Hi baby." Jordan kissed her cheek just the once, trying to gauge Liz's mood.
She worked it out pretty quickly when Liz turned in her arms and kissed her immediately. Soft and slow to begin with, but then a little deeper when her hands ran up Jordan's back. And it didn't take much more for Liz to get handsy.
