You and C/n have been friends for only a short while, but it already felt like years. Not only did you instantly click, share humour and could have both deep talks and the silliest hang outs, you have also already managed to develop feelings. He was so sweet and funny and charming...
Only one thing was missing. You had never come to his house before.
You didn't know what to expect, standing in front of the door to the house. From the outside, it looked nice. It looked big.
You finally rang the doorbell after having a countdown to do it in your head like four times.
A couple of aggressive running steps from the inside later, C/n opened the door for you.
"Hey," he smiled widely upon seeing you, ruffling his hair which had fallen out of place since he practically ran to open the door for you. He stepped aside to let you in.
"Hi," you peeped back. Why the hell were you so nervous?
You took a look at the boy. He was looking so comfortable, wearing a pair of sweats and a tee. The bracelet you had made for him out of beads hung on his wrist. You needed to avert your eyes after you saw it, fighting the blush creeping into your cheeks. You had a bracelet looking identical to his, a sign of your friendship.
"So, where are your parents?" you asked, unsure and whispering in case they were lurking nearby to avoid them hearing you asking about them.
C/n's e/c eyes glistened with mischief as he grinned. "Actually, they called mum to take on the shift of her colleague who got sick last minute and dad's at a football match with his pub friends and probably won't be back by at least midnight, so we've got the house to ourselves. Mum was bummed not to be able to meet you though."
You raised your head to finally look around. It was even bigger than how it looked from the outside. The rooms were huge.
"Oh, tell her I said hi." Your brain was trying to process this new information. Alone in the house with your best friend who also happened to be your crush as of recently. You had yet to come to terms with your new found feelings, thus you still felt slightly nervous and awkward around him.
"Will do," he replied, reaching for your stuff to carry it for you into his room, which was on the first floor. It was probably twice as big as yours, most of it occupied by the large king sized bed. He even had a separate bathroom for himself only.
What a privilege to have a house. You could only wish, living in a simple apartment with your parents (and siblings if you have some).
"So are you hungry? Thirsty? Anything you want?" he began questioning you like an interrogation when you got to his room. He set your bag carefully on the floor by the bed.
"Maybe a glass of water."
He disappeared downstairs to get you a glass and you took off your hoodie while you waited for him to return since it was quite hot inside. You hung it across his chair.
He got back with two glasses in his hands and a packet of chips in between his teeth. You took the glasses full of water from him, trying to ignore the way your stomach turned at the slight touch of his fingers and yours and took a big sip.
"Thanks. Shall we get started, then?"
Why the hell was it so awkward?
It's not like it was your first time working together on a project. In class, you'd always pair up together. Just because the setting changed, it doesn't make it any different though, right?
Right?
He gathered all the supplies like paper, pens and markers while you pulled out some materials from your bag. Putting on some music, you were able to forget your feelings, butterflies which had previously fluttered all around your stomach calmed down and settled - you fully locked in and concentrated on the project.
