not a brother

"I've always wanted a brother," you told him.

You heard him suck in a sharp breath. "So do you think of me as your brother?"

His voice resonated in your ear as he turned sideways on the bed, laying on his side. You refused to mimic his action, continuing to lay on your back and stared at the ceiling even though his eyes were burning into you. His breath fanned your cheek and neck. You were both laying side by side in his bed so closely your arms had been pressed together, but when he turned to lay on his hip instead, you felt his hand brush against your own hip at the movement. You kept your hands locked together on your tummy.

You knew exactly why he asked that question. The other, unspoken question lingered in the air after he closed his mouth: am I in the friendzone?

You didn't mean for it to come out like that; you had simply been talking about your families and the conversation turned into complaining about siblings sometimes. You only had a sister, but it was true that you always wanted to know how it was to have a brother that would always have your back. That was why you said it.

But in no way did you think of C/n as your brother. Hell no.

"No," you replied to his question a few seconds later, giving yourself time to think your answer through. "I mean, you're not supposed to want to kiss your brother, after all," you kind of whispered the last part, lowering your voice.

"What?" You saw him lift up his head from the corner of your eye but you still refused to turn your head sideways and meet his gaze. You watched the ceiling intensely.

"What?" you countered, pretending to have no idea what he was talking about.

"What did you just say?"

"That I've always wanted a brother," you still played dumb, completely ignoring the last sentence your lips had uttered previously. Partly because you were too nervous of his answer and partly because it was fun messing with him. But maybe you were afraid of his answer a little more.

This time, he sat up and you finally locked eyes with him. His e/c orbs bore into you, as if he wanted to open up your head and see what was inside it - what kind of thoughts swirled around.

"No, you did not," he said rather sternly, obviously having run out of his patience. Without a warning, his hands gripped at your own, separating them and bringing them down by your sides. You had no time to react before he started tickling you.

Immediately, you tried to bring your legs to your belly to cover it as your hands gripped his forearms in a futile attempt to pry him off. You laughed hard and squirmed underneath.

"Stop it," you panted. "Stop."

"What did you say?"

Only then did you realize your eyes were closed, so you opened them only to be met with his face only mere inches above yours. He ceased tickling you and instead, he was now leaning on his hands by the sides of your head, his body over yours. He leaned his head lower until your noses touched.

"What did you say?" he repeated, this time much quieter.

You sensed he was totally serious, no glint in his eyes anymore. He was just as desperate for your answer as you were for his.

"I said, you aren't supposed to want to kiss your brother," you replied breathlessly, still catching your breath from the tickling session. You were breathing deeply and each time you inhaled and exhaled, your chest rose so high it brushed against his own.

"Does that mean you want to kiss me?" He lowered himself even more, until he was almost laying atop you and your lips almost brushing. Almost. Strands of his hair fell on your forehead.

"Does it?" he pressed when you gave no answer.

You felt your heart beat erratically in your chest, so fast you were sure it was dangerous. "Yes," you gave in.

His body fell on yours when his lips crashed into yours as he kissed you gently, softly. As if he didn't want to crash against them, which was ironic, because his body weight literally was.

"I can't breathe," you managed to let out in between his kisses. "You're crushing me."

His eyes opened in surprise before he understood. "Oh, sorry." He effortlessly flipped you both over so that you were the one lying atop him. You could feel his heart racing just as much as yours from how your chests pressed together. His hands circled around your waist, locking you on top of him firmly.

"Does that mean you like me?"

You had no other way to avoid his question other than kiss him again. But this time it was him who pulled away. "Well does it?" He repeated once again, a hopeful smile on his lips.

You didn't trust your voice enough. So you just nodded.

It was enough of an answer for him. The grin that took over his face was the most precious thing you had ever seen. "God, you have no idea how long I was waiting for this moment, Y/n," he admitted. "I like you too. Always did," he mumbled the last part softly as his lips found yours again.

You melted into the kiss.
