-Madison POV-
I woke up sluggishly turning around every way to relax. When I put my arm out to reach Justin's... Empty. I sat up and looked at the empty space. He already left didn't he. I held back a groan when I remembered that we were going to have a dinner date today. I smiled and hopped out of bed into the bathroom and earning myself a hot shower, soon after getting dressed and doing my makeup for the day. I walked out of the room and into Nathan's. I quietly opened the door in case he was still asleep, when I peaked inside he indeed was sound asleep, softly snoring into his pillow. I laughed and closed the door. I'm so proud of him. He's so strong. And so young. When was the last time he went to school? Or I went to college? It's been so long. I should really start looking into that. I went downstairs and into the kitchen to make myself a cup of coffee and sat at the kitchen table where my laptop sat from the last time I used it. I sipped my coffee as my eyes scanned the computer screen at college classes for this semester. I curse under my breath at the coffee being too hot and set it down. Most of the classes are full but not booked. I should really consult with Justin about this first but I also need to get into the class first before its all taken. I take my phone out of my pocket and dial the colleges number up. I listen to it ring until a perky lady answers it. We talk about classes and what was available and I got it to quite a few. I need to be in 4-5 different classes to get enough credits so I took 4. I hung up and typed in my notes all the information. I decided to take morning classes and night classes so I could also drop Nathan off at school then pick him up in the afternoon and still have time to myself and Justin until night time. I think it would work perfect. Now to set up Nathan's school.
*2 hours later*
I've been watching tv with Nathan and talking to him about starting school again. Being a kid he was opposed to the idea saying how he didn't need school. But hey, if I have to go, then he has to. I want him to grow up smart and learning. Not just knowing about gangs and all that bad stuff.
"Hey want to get some food?"
I said in a enthusiastic tone patting my stomach. He nodded and sprinted into the kitchen. I opened the fridge and saw a half filled carton of milk, a few takeout boxes. And a bag of Doritos. First of all Gross.... And second Why are chips in the fridge? I take the bag out and set it on the counter. I look at Nathan as he eyes the chip bag guilty.
"Did you put those in there?"
I look at him with an eyebrow raised.
"It said cool ranch. I thought it needed to be put in the fridge."
His tone innocent and not worried as he took the bag off the counter and started eating them. Boys.... Absolute pigs.
"Alright I have an idea. Let's go food shopping! This house is full of bad food actually, no food."
I say and close the fridge. I pat Nathan's head and run upstairs to get my wallet and keys to one of Justin's cars. He said I could only use it for emergencies but this is. I'm hungry! I walk back down the stairs and see Nathan pulling his shoes on.
"Ready buddy?"
I smile and watch him jump to his feet and smile nodding his head. We go out the front door and I be sure it's locked. We walk to the nice black porche with tinted windows. I buckle him in the back seat and I hop into the drivers seat. It's been so long since I've driven. Not that I've forgotten, it just is nice to have some normality back. I put the key in ignition and start the car. The engine roared and I backed out of the driveway and to the nearest grocery store my phone said there was. I played some music as Nathan sung loud and horribly to "shut up and dance with me." But hey, I sung along too as we both laughed. I pull into the parking lot of stop and shop and get Nathan out of the car and we walk inside. Memories when I used to come food shopping with my mom filled my head. I would always sneak goodies into the cart after she said no and I always go them but she always knew but wanted me happy. She was a good mom. She just slowly lost herself and faded into a selfish person. It's like she just forgot she had us here. I shook my head out of my thoughts as I felt Nathan pull my hand pointing to a race car cart. I laughed and nodded as he got in to the car part and I pushed the cart. We went through every isle. The cart was packed with healthy food and snacks and a few junk foods I knew the boys would want. Including myself, a girl needs her pizza.
"I want that! I want that!"
Nathan shouts rather loud and points to the chicken nuggets in the frozen section.
"I say we get a few bags of those, because I want that too pal." I laughed and we high fived. Once the cart couldn't hold anymore, we went to checkout where they bagged all our groceries.
"That will be..."
I heard the cashiers voice as I opened my wallet then noticed it stopped. I looked at her confused and saw her wide eyed at me.
"Madison?..... Madison Parker?"
She spoke almost in another world.
"Yes? Is there an issue?"
I ask questionably.
"You're alive. Wow. You don't remember me? I went to school with you. I was in your English class."
She said staring at me in amazement. English class? She doesn't look like anyone I know of. Her brown eyes, dark brown hair, fair skin and over load on makeup which she really doesn't need. Oh my god. Oh what's her name...
"Hayley, my name is Hayley Lawrence."
She said observing my reactions. I was going to make small talk with her until the person behind me coughed annoyed that I was holding the line up. I handed Hayley the credit card Justin gave me to use for anything I would need. She slid the card then had me sign. I put the card back in my wallet.
"It was nice seeing you again Hayley. Maybe I'll see you again sometime."
I said nicely before leaving the line pushing the cart and having Nathan steer in the car part. Small world. I don't think I've ever really talked to her. Maybe this is when my life becomes normal again. I don't want to jinx it.
After packing the car up and getting home and putting all the groceries away. I finally got to sit down and eat a nice healthy meal with Nathan. I made grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup and a side salad for each of us. We were talking and laughing about funny shows we had watched and what his imagination had whipped up. And even some serious talks about how he has been and dealing with changes in the house and for his age. We were captured when he was 4, now he's 5. It's been a whole year since we've been taken. And it's crazy how everything turned out. Was it all right or wrong? I'd say a bit of both and all the events that happened in that year, unexplainable and I sure can't wait to just get back into the normal routine again. College classes to start my life, school for Nathan to get his education going, he would be starting kindergarten, and Justin and I's epic love story. And then the troubled gang he leads for life. I can't help but to think if he ever wants a normal life, or what it would be like if he wasn't ever in a gang. If he was just like me, would we have still met? They always say curiosity killed the cat. But I can't help but to wonder. I was pulled out of my thoughts as I heard the front door open and padding of shoes on the floor. I looked up to see Justin and the guys walking in messily with random dirt marks on their clothes and a few scrapes. I was about to open my mouth but Justin held his hand up for me to shush, maybe he will talk to me about it later. The guys went upstairs to clean up and Justin walked over to me and kissed my forehead.
"How was your guys day?"
He asked looking at Nathan and I.
"We went food shopping! Madison said there was too much junk."
Nathan huffed looking at his salad. I couldn't help but laugh.
"Food shopping huh? Get any food that's not green?"
Justin chuckled looking at Nathan's salad as well.
"Hey! You guys are eating junk! I got a couple things of not so good food but this house is changing. You're all going to get fat."
I defended laughing as I stood up to clean my plate in the kitchen sink. Justin followed behind and wrapped his arms around my waist and watched me clean.
"I will never get fat, and if I did. You'd love it."
He smiled making me laugh more.
"More cushion for the pushing right?"
He winked and kissed my cheek and walked away as I stared at him shocked. He chuckled and walked up the stairs to clean himself up.
What am I going to do with this boy?
I check the clock and see its 2:00. I need to figure a outfit for tonight. Because tonight is Justin and I's date. Wow.... This is different. I kind of like it.
