Hiccup was walking around Dragon's Edge, checking if everything was alright. Today had been the most hectic day for everybody since Gustav left a few days ago.
They had to clean out the Bore Pit - since he filled it in, much to the Twins dismay - and they had to clean up the rest of the island for other reasons.
As Hiccup walked around in the middle of the night with a smile on his face, he noticed someone sitting by the clubhouse.
But it wasn't just someone. It was Astrid. He furrowed his brows, wondering why she was up and walked over to her.
He sat down next to her on the cliff she sat on. "Hey, what's up?" He asked happily. Astrid smiled before that failed. Hiccup got concerned. "Astrid..." He begin as he placed a hand on her back. "Is everything alright?"
"Yeah."
Hiccup looked at her for a few more seconds before he looked out at the moon. "It's beautiful" He heard Astrid say as she looked up.
He looked at her with a smile and loving eyes. "Just like you, M'lady."
At that, the blonde signed. "Astrid, please tell me what's wrong. I wanna know...I wanna help you."
Astrid looked at the young man beside her. "It's Gustav..." She said. "What about him?" Hiccup asked. "He was...flirting with me and saying stuff that I'm not used to...you know what I mean?"
"Yeah, but hey...I really can't blame him..."
"Hiccup...it's not that. I mean, what does people see in me? Snotlout have been after me since I was six. Gustav is flirting with me - which, by the way, is disgusting - and now..." She trailed off.
"And now, what?" Hiccup asked and wrapped the hand he had on her back, around her waist.
"And now...I just don't want guys to flirt with me. They treat me like I'm some price to be won over. But...I really don't know anymore. I want to have someone paying attention to me but he doesn't seem to care about love."
Hiccup's face fell. "So...you do like someone?" He asked. "I love him...I just, he doesn't pay attention to almost anything I do to make him realize that I love him" the blonde said frustrated.
"Oh...and who do you love, if I may ask?"
Astrid looked at him.
"You don't see it do you? What about the time after the Romantic Flight and I kissed you. What about after you woke up from you coma and I kissed you. What about Thawfest and I kissed you? Can't you see that it's been you all along?" Astrid asked.
Hiccup looked at her. 'This girl next to me...loves me?'
"You...?"
"Yes Hiccup, I've been talking about you all along. Why can you just realize that I love you. And that I've been loving you since I was six. And-"
Hiccup interrupted her by pressing his lips against hers. Astrid's eyes went wide. She melted into the kiss a few moments later and wrapped her arms around Hiccup's neck.
They stayed there a few more moments, lips on lips. When they pulled away, they leaned their foreheads against each other and stayed there.
"I'm sorry Astrid. I'm sorry that I didn't notice that it was you. You always where by my side-"
"And I always will Hiccup..." She said and pecked his lips. The auburn haired man signed. He fastened his other arm around Astrid's waist and pulled her into his lap.
Astrid laughed and looked into Hiccup's eyes. He smiled. "Come on...we should go to sleep..."
Hiccup said. Astrid moved off him and they stood up.
"Goodnight, Astrid..."
"Goodnight, Hiccup..."
They turned around, going to their huts. Astrid bit her lip and quickly turned around, calling his name. "Hiccup?"
The man turned around. "Yes?" He asked. Astrid went to him. "Can I sleep with you tonight? And maybe a few more nights forwards?" She mumbled the last sentence. Hiccup chuckled and wrapped one of his arms around her waist, leading her towards his hut.
And I can grantee that there was a LOT more than just sleeping that night.
