The sun had gone down a long time ago and it must've been well past midnight when Astrid knocked on Hiccup's door. She didn't want to wake him up but she sighed when she heard him shuffle inside. The door opened and he crossed his arms, leaning against the doorpost, looking at her with a lopsided smile.

"Astrid."

"Hiccup," She said, her voice serious, mimicking his. They laughed and he stretched out a hand. She took it and he pulled her inside, closing the door behind her. "So, what brings you here this late at night?" He asked and let her go.

Astrid shrugged. "Nothing, really. I was bored and I couldn't sleep so I came over...do you mind?" She asked and walked over to the table, sitting down.

"Of course not, Astrid. You're welcome to come in whenever you want," Hiccup said and followed her, sitting down next to her.

Silence took over the hut and the only sound that was heard was the wood crackling in the fire. Astrid placed her hand on the table, her palm facing upwards. Hiccup looked at her before looking at her hand, slipping his hand into hers. She smiled and placed her other hand on top of his.

"Whenever I want?"

"Yeah. The same goes for when we're back on Berk," Hiccup said and squeezed her hand slightly. "Okay..."

And, there was the silence again. Astrid just smiled and laid her head on his shoulder, her hand letting go of his and turning it so the back of his hand was resting in hers. She moved her thumbs over his palms, massaging his hand softly.

Hiccup smiled and buried his nose into her hair, staying there. Time passed with them just sitting there before Hiccup sighed.

Astrid pulled away. It wasn't one of his content sighs. With as one of those, worried and sad sighs.

"Hiccup? What's wrong?"

He looked at her and pulled his hand away from hers, standing up. "I just...I can't stop thinking about what happened earlier today. With Viggo and all of that..."

Astrid stood up and walked up to him, placing her hands on his back since he was facing away from her. "I know it's hard for you, Hiccup, but...it happened. No matter what you would've done, it would've happened," She said softly and tried him around, placing her hands on his arms.

"You did the right thing. I know it doesn't seem like a right thing to you but it was for the better. At least...now it's over. He's gone and everything is over."

Hiccup looked at her. "I just..." He trailed off and Astrid continued. "Listen, Hiccup. It's hard for you. I know. But, what's done is done. It's finally over thanks to you. You stopped a madman who could've done so much more then what he already has done. You succeeded. You did it. As I said, you've been planning this for months and it's finally over. You did it," She said and pulled back her hands before placing one of them on his chest and slowly trailing up.

He watched her carefully as he felt her hand trail up his chest, the side of his neck and stop at her cheek.

Astrid moved her thumb along his jaw bone and she smiled up at him. "You were amazing out there, Hiccup.." She said, her voice low. He gazed into her eyes and placed his hands on her waist, slowly wrapping his arms around her. Astrid placed a hand on his shoulder and wrapped it around his neck while her other hand landed in his hair.

They leaned closer. Just before their lips were about to touch, Hiccup stopped and Astrid looked at him. He smiled. "I swear, if someone bursts through that door this time, they're going to regret it so bad."

Astrid laughed and grabbed a fistful of his hair, pressing her hand against the back of his head and pulling him in.

She pressed her lips against his, slightly open.

Hiccup melted into the kiss just a few seconds after and pulled her closer, kissing back. "Don't you dare pulling away this time," He murmured against her lips, smiling. Astrid's smile widened and she kissed him again.

Sparks went everywhere.

Literally everywhere.

But, they didn't care. She was in his arms and she supported him when he needed it.

He loved her more then anything and he promised himself that, if Astrid would ever get into trouble again, he would protect her.

No matter the cost.
