"Look, Astrid, Viggo and Ryker is out there. And they're unarmored. They don't have any backup plans. This is the only chance we might have at taking them down. We might miss out on this chance and that can't happen. I have to go. Do you understand?" Hiccup asked and looked at the girl he loved endlessly.
"I do understand! I just..." She trailed off and her eyes dropped to the ground before fixating them on Hiccup's prostetic leg. She sobbed and her eyes begun to water. "I just...I don't want to loose you, Hiccup," She confessed and closed her eyes, crying. "Hey..." The young man said and softly grabbed her hands.
He sighed. "Astrid," Her voice came out as a whisper and he leaned in until his lips almost touched her temple. "You won't loose me, okay? I'll be back. I promise." Astrid huffed. "Have I ever broken a promise to you before?" Hiccup asked and pulled back, pulling away one of his hands and placing it on her chin, lifting it up. "Hey, look at me, will you?" He asked and smiled softly.
Astrid opened her eyes and stared right into his. A second later, she looked away. She just couldn't look at him, knowing that she would loose him no matter what she did or whatever he said.
Pulling away his other hand from hers, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her against him. "Astrid, listen. I have never lied to you before and I will never lie to you. So, believe me when I say that, I promise I'll be back and then I can be here to support you."
The blonde shook her head and slowly wrapped her arms around his shoulders, laying her head on it. "It's not that, Hiccup. I don't want to loose you because I..." She trailed off again and buried her face into his neck. "I have strong feelings for you, Heck, I love you. And...I don't know what I would do without you," She said and her hands clutched his armor.
Hiccup looked up and pulled back slightly, looking at her. He stared at her for what seemed like minutes before smiling and pulling his hands away from her. He placed his hands on her cheeks and stoke them with his thumbs.
"Guess what?"
"What?" Astrid asked and looked down, sighing.
"I love you too, Astrid Hofferson. I always have. I just didn't know if you ever would feel the same. But, you do. Thank you," He said before lifting her head and leaning in, pressing his lips against hers.
Astrid's eyes widened before she slowly closed them and kissed back.
Their lips moved against each other's in perfect sync. A little tongue here and there didn't hurt. Her hands landed on his hips and she grabbed them, pulling him against her. Hiccup wrapped an arm around her waist while the other dropped to the side of thigh.
Pulling away a second later, he look a deep breath before pecking her lips, hopping onto Toothless and leaving her in daze, only to make her realize he left and that he would probably never come back.
That night, she cried herself to sleep. Because he wasn't home yet. He said he would. The following days was the day's she realized she didn't have anyone anymore.
The days after that, - today - she left her axe and Stormfly back on the edge. Walking far beyond the forest and to those parts of the island they still had yet to discover, she felt his presence. She didn't want to believe that he was dead but she was sure he was.
A tear slid down her cheek and tried to hang onto the skin on her chin but it couldn't and dropped to the ground. She walked for hours until finally reaching a cliff she had seen from the air from time to time.
She sat down at the very edge, letting her legs dangle. She looked forward and sort of expected Hiccup on Toothless, flying towards her but nothing. She closed her eyes and just shut our everything. She shut out her thoughts, sadness, emotions, the sounds, everything.
Little did she know, Hiccup would land behind her quietly just a few moments later.
"He-"
"How could I have been so dumb? Of course he just said that to make me feel better about him fighting Viggo and Ryker on his own. I shouldn't have let him go. He's gone and it's all my fault. He died because of me. I'm so stupid..." He heard Astrid said and he felt his heart tighten before breaking into thousand pieces.
"Astrid..." He said softly.
"I must be going crazy too. Hearing his voice and talking to myself..."
He sighed and walked up to her, making a swift motion and pulling her up and unto his arms. She squeaked and he spun them around in circles, away from the edge of the cliff of course.
"Hiccup?" She asked in disbelief. "Hey, M'Lady," He said before smiling and putting her down.
She lifted a hand and placed it on his cheek, wanting to I know if he really was alive.
Starting to cry, she jumped and wrapped her limbs around him. Everything was perfect for a moment. Because, she was finally in his arms again and he was alive.
She couldn't ask for more in this moment because she knew that he kept his promise. And he promised he would never leave her.
(A/N: A little story I had after going through me and Hiccup's earlier conversations. I feel like I'm not good enough for him but he tells me otherwise. I'm so happy I have him in my life and that's why I wrote this. This is for you, hiccupness856 I hope you understand that I love you endlessly and that I would do anything to make you happy. I just wish you understand that. I love you, babe. Forever.)
