Y/N's POV

I began making my way to the now deserted Gym Gamma. In all honesty I wasn't in the mood to train. My muscles ached, and I was dead tired, but if Shota was giving up time from his schedule to help me, I should be grateful.

As I opened the humongous doors, I was welcomed by a certain raven haired man.

"You're late." He said, hands in his pockets.

I shut the door behind me. "Sorry I had to ask Kayama for a new uniform." As the words left my mouth, he looked me up and down understanding my tardiness.

"Well, let's start stretching."

"Am I learning how to use your scarf today?" I asked while putting my hair into a ponytail, away from my face.

"You still have to master basic combat before you attempt to use it."

I groaned. "Am I a lost cause be honest."

"Be patient Y/N, we just started with your training yesterday, you're far more advanced than many other people at your stage."

"I guess you're right..." I replied embarrassed. Maybe it was my fatigue getting to me but I was acting like a child. I really could use a nap.

Apparently, today every student in the whole of UA decided to get hurt. The infirmary was completely buzzing with energy. If it weren't for Shota I'm sure I wouldn't have eaten. Not because I wasn't hungry —I was starving in fact— but because I couldn't find a single moment to rest.

Thankfully the stressful day kept me distracted from the scurrying thoughts inside my head.

I began stretching alongside Shota, which did nothing to my previously cramping muscles, still I continued, because somehow it was helping clear my mind.

That's always how he was, his presence as quiet as it was, always comforted me when I needed it.

Truly out of everyone I had met so far in UA, he was probably the one that had helped out me the most.

"...Y/N?" He called bringing me out of my head.

"Sorry! What is it?" I yelped.

"...is something the matter?"

"I just got lost in thought, don't worry."

He looked at me with hesitation, as if he wanted to say something else, but then he turned his back to me. "Let's get started with the combat training."

We walked over to the center of the gym being directly under the lights, from this point you could even make out the grey skies from outside the window.

"Today we'll be working with your lower body." He said out of the blue.

"Any particular reason why?" I wasn't complaining by any means my shoulders and back muscles were screaming in pain.

"I noticed that you're considerably stronger with your kicks than you are with your punches, and it's important to have a wide range of attacks at your disposal."

I'm strong now am I?

"Oh really..." I replied mischievously. "In a scale of one through All Might, how strong would you say my kicks are?"

"Around a five." He replied instantly.

Wow he really didn't even try to sugar coat it.

"Is that even strong?" I let out tiredly. Dropping my head.

"If you learn the proper technique, that 5 could amplify, and you could become stronger."

My eyes looked up at his. "Do you think i can do it?" I asked with a hint of hope.

His face answered with a glimpse of a smirk. Hot. "That's all up to you to decide."He paused. "Sorry tell me Y/N, are you ready?" He said reaching out his hand.

I looked at it, and without thinking twice grabbed it. "I'm ready!"
———————

I was in fact not ready.

After he had thought me a couple of beginner kicks and I somehow understood them, we move on to the actual combat part of the exercise, where i would try and hit him. If at any point I landed a hit on him, I would get to start the scarf training.

I felt my moves growing quicker and less stiff, however there was one problem.

He was really good at dodging.

I heaved out a breath, wiping the sweat off my brow. He was right in front of me, back towards me as he drank water. It was a cheap shot, but he never stated anything rules.

Slowly and carefully I stood up, running towards him without making a sound.

This time.

I lifted my leg ready to attack the left side of his torso.

I'll get him!

My leg launched. For an instant i was sure I'd hit him, but moved swiftly and with precision completely avoiding the attack.

My leg didn't make it through in time.

Crap I'm going to fall!

I covered my face, sacrificing the rest of my body.

"Where do you think you're going." Shota said as he stopped my fall by clutching tightly the back of the PE uniform.

I peeked from my hands and saw his face, again with that... stupid smirk. It would always stir something from within me. Although i wasn't particularly sure it was something bad.

I stood up, looking anywhere but at him.

"Nice try, you almost had me there for a second."

"Oh please Shota. You dodged that effortlessly."

"Someone sounds a little bitter." He teased.

"Can you blame me? I've spent the last two hours trying to hit you at least once." I groaned.

He walked past me, putting a hand on top of my head. "Let's call it quits for today."

My heart sped up in a second.

"B-but I haven't landed an attack on you yet." I let out.

"At this rate, even if i gave you five hours, you wouldn't  land an attack on me, you're too tired for today."

It's true, my head rang with pain, and my joints felt stiff under the frigid AC inside of the gym.

I let out a sigh of defeat, and followed him out the gym.

I carefully walked alongside him on our way to the dorms.

It was quiet, the type of silence that embraced and comforted your body.

"You've gotten stronger, don't be too inpatient." He continued walking with his hands tucked in his pockets.

"If you think I'll quit because I haven't landed a hit on you, you're mistaken Shota, just you watch me!" I declared.

He closed his eyes letting a small smile take over his features. "Then I'll be waiting." He responded softly.
