Y/N'S POV
I held Eri in my arms as we left the room.
She cuddled closer to my body, in search of comfort-- or rather stability.
I stepped through the halls with ease, not in a rushed or slow manner.
The halls were rather empty with the exception of a couple of nurses hanging around.
"Hey Dr. L/N!" A few nurses greeted as we walked by.
"Hi girls!" I let out cheerfully.
Eri glanced at them and leaned further into me, her tiny arms clenching the fabric of my robe.
I looked down at her, and held her tighter in return.
"Oh, who is this little lady?" One of the older nurses asked.
I met Eri's eyes and smiled gleefully, "She's my best patient!"
The older nurse placed a hand on her cheek. "Aw, she's extremely beautiful and well behave!"
Still, Eri's shyness wouldn't die down as she looked the other way, avoiding the nurse's hand
Her tiny shoulders shaking a little.
I glanced to her again, looking up to the group of nurses soon after. "I'm sorry girls, looks like me and Eri here have some business outside."
The nurse drew back her hand as she looked at me
"Well you both have fun, I bet she'll love the flowers near the east wing."
I smiled politely. "I'll be sure to take her there."
I continued striding through the empty and fluorescent walls.
Unlike the other hospitals in Japan the one we were currently at was rather modern.
The walls were painted a white hue, that although looked elegant, became consuming and overwhelming the longer you stared at them.
We finally reached the elevators.
As we crossed the doors, I shuffled Eri on my arm to free one hand, just enough to press the button for the first floor.
The elevator rung for each floor we went down, until the doors finally opened in the first floor
The clarity of the light outside illuminated our bodies, although we were inside.
Eri squinted her eyes. "It's so bright Y/N" She brought her little hands up to her face.
I get it, seeing the sun from a small hospital window was nothing like seeing it first hand.
I patted her head and grinned. "Just wait 'till we're outside."
We got past the exit, now fully embraced by the light.
It shun upon us, not threateningly, but kindly--warm.
"See Eri?" I looked down at her reaction, her eyes squinting upwards. "It's nice, isn't it?"
She pouted a little bit. "It feels hot."
I chuckled. "That's because we right under it, let's go over to those trees." I signaled over to the gingko tree.
Her eyes widened in curiosity. "How are they so yellow Y/N?"
I tilted my head looking at the tree. " Pretty sure it's because of a certain pigment they have."
"pigment...?"
I frowned slightly. "Kind of like a chemical in plants that has colors."
I stared into the distance, the outside was full of people, all gathered in their own little groups. A family.
