Y/N's POV

What the hell is a child doing here?! I stood on my feet and rushed to the girl's side.

She was curled up into a ball, her wavy teal hair tangled and matted as her ruby eyes shun with fresh tears.

My heart ached, she reminded me of my old self, the way I used to hide in the darkest corners of that cell-like room.

I bent my knee and kneeled in front of the girl, meeting her eyes, "What's your name?" I asked softly.

She hesitated, her lips trembling before she answered, "E-eri"

I laid my hand on the crown of her head. "You've got a beautiful name Eri, I'm Y/N." I smiled weakly.

To think that Kai would be crazy enough to kidnap a child.

"Y/N... I don't want to be here." she managed to let out between sobs.

My own lips trembled trying to contain my tears. It was a horribly cruel situation we were both in right now, specially her since I didn't know how long she had been here for. "How long... have you been here?"

Her sobs worsened her face scrunching with sadness. "It h-hurts."

I looked down at her bandages, it wasn't hard to imagine the disgusting and immoral acts Kai had done to this poor girl.

My own skin tingled with pain at the searing memories, back when my own mother would tie and test me like a laboratory rat.

I can't take it anymore, my life, has always been a dark shade of red stained with blood and misfortune, I've always been plagued by a lurking dreadful sense.

Lately, I thought things had gotten better. I landed a new job. Made new friends, improved my powers, met him, got a feel for the true kindness in humans instead of the ugly wretchedness I'd been so accustomed to.

I'm tired. I'm done with following my fate. I want normalcy, a life where I live without a care in the world and do whatever I want with no risks.

"Eri" I called out gaining her attention.

Her weepy eyes looked at me with hope.

I don't want children to live the same life as me, I want them to have good joyful lives, ones full of smiles and love.

"I'll protect you Eri, I'll get you out of this place." I said with a tearful smile.

"Time to get up!" someone shouted mockingly.

Somewhere during the night, I managed to fall asleep with Eri's head slumped on my shoulder.

My eyes adjusted to the light from the hallway and I felt Eri's shaking body at the sight of the man.

He was the one from yesterday, the one I managed to land a hit on.

"We're awake, what do you want?" I asked coldly as I wrapped my arms around Eri.

"Tcht, drop the tough act and get changed, Overhaul wants the both of you ready in five minutes." He spit out, throwing a hospital-type gown my way before smacking the door closed.

I moved closer and got a hold of the garment, analyzing its bad state.

I don't want to follow that tyrant's requests, but...

I looked down at my current bloody and torn outfit.

I really don't want to stay in these clothes.

I groaned.

"Do you want me to turn Y/N?" Eri asked nervously. Her words surprised me.

I chuckled, looking at her over my shoulder. "If it makes you feel better you're free to do so."

She turned towards the wall and I began removing my clothing only leaving my undergarments on before slipping into the robe that fell right above my knees.

"Eri I'm done, do you want to change?"

"I'll stay like this." She muttered under her breath looking at her feet.

I got closer to her and sat next to her in the bed. "Eri I can-"

The door slammed open. "You first, get out here" the same man said pointing at Eri.

She tensed next to me, shaking her head. "I don't want to go Y/N." her voice trembled. "I don't want to."

I clenched my teeth, as I moved Eri behind me and hid her from the man. "Get out of here you bastard."

He snorted, walking towards us at an almost taunting pace. "Oh please sweetheart, don't be impatient now, your turn comes after." he got to me and forcefully grabbed my arms.

"Let go of me!" I thrashed in his hold. "Damn it I said let go!" I pulled my strength and shoved us both to the ground before punching his face.

My knuckles turned bloody, as the man passed out. It became eerily quietly. I stood up abruptly smearing the blood on my robe.

"Eri you have to go!" I turned to her and ushered her to the exit. "Hurry, I'll stay behind so you can get out."

"But I don't want you to be alone Y/N!" She planted her feet in the ground stopping me.

My pupils dilated. "Please Eri, this is the best I can think of, go out there and get someone to help you."

"What about you?"

"Don't worry about me." I turned at the sound of faraway footsteps. "GO!"

She began running to the basement's exit.

I stood in the hallway, waiting for any retaliation.

She turned her head towards, her tiny hands gripping the knob.

I smiled. "Go" I mouthed.

Soon she left my sight and I could only let a sigh of relief.

"Go check up on them Chrono they're taking too long." I heard his words from the other side of the endless basement.

Quick, I have to think!

I look back at the room and decided to lock myself in it.

It was inevitable for them to figure out she was missing, but the least I could do was stall for time.

I pressed my body against the door as Chrono tried to open it.

"The fuc..." he whispered as he turned the knob and the door didn't budge. "Open the door!" He banged against it.

"In your dreams you asshole!" I cried back.

Please Eri, get out and find safety for us both.

Find him.
