Chapter 39~

Y/N's POV

A harsh rattle shook my consciousness awake.

"Get up, we have to leave."

It was Chrono, but he looked more stressed than anything.

I admired my surroundings. The eerily dark room and the thin IV pole standing next to my bed side.

How long was I out for?

I turned my head to the side and saw Eri's tiny figure with a wrinkled forehead and agitated eyes.

"Did you not hear me? Get. Up." He spoke harshly before pulling the IV needle roughly out of me.

"Argh" I groaned out in pain clutching my forearm. 

Upon closer inspection, it felt like some of the more deeper wounds began healing, probably thanks to the fluids that were being pumped into me, still, they weren't fully healed.

Reluctantly I stood up, using the wall next to me as support as my body lost its balance.

"Let's go, and don't you even think of running away." he said as he looked at me with malicious intent.

I started walking behind him, stopping once I reached Eri.

"Are you okay Miss Y/N?" she mumbled worriedly.

I patted her head with my hand. "Don't worry, I just needed to take a nap."

"But you were sleeping for so long." She begun getting teary eyed. "It's all my fault I'm so sorry."

I frowned at her comment, picking up her hand and clutching it on mine. "It really isn't your fault Eri, I just got tired that's all!" I said trying to cheer the girl up.

She looked down, clearly not believing my lies, yet choosing to go ahead with them regardless.

We reached Kai in the hallway. "Both of you move it." he said bitterly as he took a hold of Eri's hand.

I didn't relinquish my hold on her. "I'll take her." I said stubbornly, feeling a sudden rush of adrenaline. Even the skin under my bandages glowed as my wounds healed completely.

Guess those fluids really did give me some strength

"Why the fuck would I let you do that?" He asked irritated.

"Oh, you don't need to give me permission, I'll do it myself." I bit back.

"Y/N, naughty girl, don't make me get my hands dirty with you again." He muttered threateningly.

My body froze in that instant.

"I-it's okay Y/N, I'll just walk with him." Eri said shaking me out of my trance.

She let my hand go, and I simply drew it back to my side as I clutched it tightly.

Am I really so defenseless that I can't even help a small child?

"Keep moving." Chrono said as he picked up a startled Eri in his arms.

Scared of what would happen otherwise I followed their lead.

We had been walking for some time now, yet the hallways only kept on stretching, further and further.

The humidity only grew as my patience began to diminish.

There was a loud commotion from the beginning of the basement, and from the first floor.

Some hidden hope from within me, prayed that it was the heroes, that it was my friends coming to rescue me, but I knew better than to fall for false hope.
