mily sat in the living room, stunned. How did Lute get that information? Why did she have it? What could she need it for? Emily shook her head. She needed to fix the situation. That's what she did. She fixed things. She pulled out her phone and called the one person she knew who could help her.
"Emily, are you okay?"
"Sera! I don't even know where to start! Lute had Adam's therapy session notes from Peter. I don't know how she got them. Adam found them and freaked out. Lute's sobbing." Emily spoke a million miles per hour.
"Emily! Emily!" Sera finally got her attention. "Take a deep breath and tell me what exactly happened." Emily did just that. She explained to Sera why she was there. How Adam found the pictures. What he said, and now he was gone.
"Okay, I'm going to go find him," Sera told Emily. "Go to Lute now and make sure she is not alone. Just sit there if you have to."
Emily nodded, thankful for Sera and her infinite wisdom.

Adam got into his Plymouth and just drove. He didn't know where he was going; he just knew he needed to get out. He kept thinking of Lute. How much he loved her. How much she hurt him. Adam wasn't above sharing his mental issue with Lute; however, this was a breach of privacy. This was invasive. What he shared with Lute had to be on his own terms.
Would Eve do that? Would she stalk Adam like he was a wounded animal? His mind started to spiral. Where did his life lead him for him to be here? What did he do to warrant this?
With all the questions running through Adam's mind, he knew one thing for sure. He felt violated and betrayed. Why couldn't Lute just ask him about his issues? Adam felt like he was a relatively open person, especially with her.
Adam felt tears stream down his face. "Stupid tears," he wiped his face, trying to focus on the road. The worst part of it all, he felt more betrayed by Lute than Eve. Because with Eve, their relationship was built on lust and convenience. Adam could see that now. The way they met, the way they used one another. It wasn't healthy. He and Lute built a relationship through friendship and trust. They bared each other's souls to one another. Adam felt vulnerable around her more than anyone else in his life.
Adam was driving erratically when flashing blue lights appeared in the rear view mirror. "Fuck!" Adam cursed. He pulled over to the side of the road. He grabbed his driver's license and rolled down his window, ready for the whole thing.
"Adam," Sera said softly.
Adam gripped the steering wheel tightly, looking ahead. His body was shaking. He was trying too hard to keep it together. He could feel his face contorting into sadness. "Yes." his voice cracked.
"I know what happened. Let's talk." Sera kindly offered. Adam's wall broke, and he covered his face. He really hated crying, especially in front of his parole officer. "Adam, I'm not on duty. I'm not here as an officer but as a friend."
Adam sniffled and wiped his face. He got out of the car. The moonlight was bright tonight. Adam had driven all the way out to the countryside. They were in a pasture somewhere. "Come on, let's step away from the cars." Sera beckoned him to a fence. It was broken, but parts of it still stood tall. Adam leaned onto a faded white pole. "Tell me what you're thinking."
Adam kept looking at the empty field. At one time, it must have been pretty when animals grazed on the land. Adam took a deep breath. "Lute somehow stole Peter's therapy notes on me. I feel so betrayed. I feel disgusted. I feel hurt."
