Niall pushed me lightly and looked at me intensely. "Don't you realize, Lenn, that was a gift. Your mom-mom remembered and even though it was only for a short amount of time, she remembered and you have to realize how amazing that is."
I nodded. He was right. It was extremely rare for anything like that to happen. Niall reached over and wiped a tear off of my cheek with his thumb. "Please don't cry. I hate to see you like this." I smiled. "There's that smile," he laughed, pinching my cheeks. I pushed his hand away.
"No," I laughed, "no pinching my cheeks."
"And what if I do?" he smirked.
"Then you ain't getting none of dis," I said, pointing to my lips.
He gasped, jokingly. "You wouldn't!"
"Watch me!" I said pushing his hand off my cheek and walking out of the car to the driver's side. I started the ignition and Niall hopped over the arm rest into the passenger seat; it was kinda hot. He leaned over and kissed me cheek before strapping in.
"I'm watching you!" I joked.
"Don't watch me! Watch the road!"
"You know what I mean," I groaned.
Once we reached my house, it was about 4:30. I needed to be at the airport by 10 so I had some time around here. I noticed both my mom and my dad's car sitting in the driveway. How was I going to explain Niall to them? Well, I guess now's a better time than ever considering I was leaving tonight. I checked my appearance in the rear-view mirror. My eyes were still red and my cheeks were puffy, but it wasn't too noticeable.
I got out of the car and Niall did, too. He grabbed my waist and pulled me close to him as we walked up the steps. I slowly opened the door and peered in before slamming it shut. Niall caught me when I tripped on one of the steps walking backwards.
"What's wrong?" he looked at me, strangely.
"Matt's in there."
"What?" Niall asked, his face scrunching up and his eyebrows knitting together in anger.
I turned around and placed my hands on his chest.
"Niall, we are going to go in there, walk past Matt without looking at him, and I'm going to introduce you to my parents, who I am guessing decided to have a 'welcome home slash goodbye have fun finishing your summer program' party."
"If he even looks at you, I will make him wish he--"
"Niall, I'm serious. Stop!" The way he got jealous and protective over me made we want to swoon, though. I could tell how much he cared for me.
"I'm serious too, Lenn." He grabbed my waist again and I opened the door awaiting my fate.
I was immediately attacked by Clara. I looked around to see if I saw Matt, but I did not.
"Oh my God, babe, I know this sucks but you're strong! I'm always here." I noticed that Niall let go of my waist and was standing next to me, awkwardly. "Oh my God, Niall." Clara attacked him in a hug.
"Hey, Clara. It's nice to see you." Niall smiled widely.
"Why are you here?"
"Emma called me and..."
I listened to Niall go on about everything. I didn't want to abandon him in my house with all of my family and friends here. We were still standing in the doorway when Clara went to get food. I grabbed Niall's hand, about to walk into the kitchen where I heard many voices. We were standing alone in the foyer. Niall leaned over to my ear.
