As I stared at my phone for a few more seconds, I heard Emma's voice break me out of my thoughts.
"How long are you gonna stare at that?" she asked as the taxi came to a stop.
"That'll be 7 pounds 60," the taxi driver said, turning around to face us. I quickly pulled out the money before Emma could (thank goodness Sandy had taught me how to use pounds).
We grabbed our bags after I paid the man and walked up to the entrance of my hotel as he sped off.
"So are you going to respond?"" Emma asked as we entered the elevator.
"To you or to the text?"
She gave me an annoyed look and rolled her eyes at me.
"I don't want to ruin our day," I continued.
"Please Lennon. I'll be in London for a few more days and you have to pop over to Ireland with me to meet Connor's family anyway! By the way, can I stay here?" she added as I opened the door to the room.
I was glad I was going to see my sister longer but she didn't need to know that, so I let out a loud sigh and said, "Yeah, I guess!!"
--------
"So how did it go?" I looked at Emma quizzically. "At Connor's I mean. Did his parents like you?"
Her eyes lit up at the mention of Connor. She sat on the bed and sighed happily. She was acting so lovey-dovey. I giggled at her actions.
"That great?" I said, smiling, reading her like a book.
She nodded her head and fell backwards onto the bed.
I sat next to my suitcase on the floor and observed my clothes. I picked up a coral-colored button-down shirt and walked over to the mirror, putting it in front of my body. I shook my head at the shirt and threw it back into my suitcase.
I had texted Niall back saying I could hang out tonight, with much persistence from Emma. I was really nervous about all of this and an uneasy feeling rose to my stomach as the hours got closer.
I checked my phone and noticed it was 4:52. Niall would be here at 5:30; I needed to hurry.
I finally decided on a pair of black leggings matched with a loose knitted sweater. On my feet, I wore a pair of chestnut-colored Steve Madden boots that Emma had bought me for Christmas last year.
Emma took over with my hair, loosely curling it. This was a look that I wasn't too familiar with as I normally just pulled it back or straightened it. Emma also did my make-up and I made sure it was natural looking-- I couldn't stand heavy make-up.
When she was finally done, I looked in the mirror and smiled. The eye-liner Emma had put on had really brought out my blue eyes, my hair looked really pretty framing my face, and my skin somehow looked flawless.
I turned around and hugged her tightly.
"He's gonna love you, Lenn."
"Thank you Em."
I checked the time and it was 5:25. I quickly gathered my phone, some money (the little amount I had left), and a clutch.
"Don't be out too late now," Emma smirked at me from across the room as I checked myself in the mirror one last time.
"Don't fall asleep too early now, you need to let me in!" I replied.
"Unless you call 3am early, I won't be asleep," she retorted, sassily.
I fixed a piece of my hair behind my ear as I heard a knock on the door. The uneasy feeling in my stomach was turning into one of pure discomfort-- I was really nervous.
