The Big Dig

LENNON'S POV

I fell onto my bed, putting my hands over my eyes and rubbing them. After a minute, I sat up and pulled my hair to the side, braiding it in a thick plait. After tying the hairband around it three times, I finally brought myself to think back to what had just happened.

We were just walking, like two normal people, and then he just had to get really close, he just had to put his hands on my face, and he just HAD to kiss me, or at least try. Right before his lips met mine, I pulled my phone out of my back pocket and dropped it on the ground, making a loud clacking sound. Zac jumped back and I grabbed my phone off of the ground, side-stepped to the door, and quickly unlocked it, yelling "Thanks," before closing it in his face, a bit rude but that didn't mean I should've just let him kiss me. I just hope he wasn't going to be at the dig tomorrow. Speaking of the dig, I have a meeting for that today.

I grabbed my room key, observing the pretty flower on the card. I had never noticed it before, it was bright pink with beautiful flowering petals. I love flowers, I thought to myself, stepping out of the door.

I stepped out of the room, sliding my black headband onto my head. I glanced up at the ceiling noticing the small swirly patterns, wow aren't I observant today? Apparently not. As I got closer to the end of the hallway, I stepped on something, making a loud rustling sound. I quickly shifted my head down and saw I had stepped on the wrapper around a beautiful bouquet of roses. Why was a bouquet of roses sitting in the hallway? Nevertheless, I picked them up and brought them up to my nose. I took a strong whiff and smiled, breathing in the sweet smell. I observed the gorgeous coloration of the deep red and soft orange flowers.

I turned around and ran to my room, gently placing the flowers on my bed before running back out and down the hallway. If the person really wanted them, they wouldn't be left in the hallway.

"Hello students," Mr. Chawser said to the five of us. "As you know, we will be starting our first dig tomorrow. It will be held in a small town located closer to Ireland outside of a city called Liverpool." My heart literally skipped a beat, Liverpool? That was somewhere I've always wanted to visit. All the Beatle's history there is incredible. I made a mental note that I had to visit, seeing as we would have no time to explore tomorrow. "It is an area where many ancient artifacts have been found. Tools, plates, bowls, even spears have been found here recently. Hopefully we will be lucky and find something of interest. On a side note, students, I want you to remember that sometimes, we don't find anything so don't get your hopes up. Also, although this should go without saying, you are all representing our school, now that you are students at our college, so I expect you all to be on your best behavior. That is all. Get a good night rest and if you have any questions, please see me or Ms. Martin now."

I smiled at him and got up, looking around at who else was going. Zac was here and so was the girl I met last week named Katie along with another girl and another guy. I smiled at Katie and walked up to her.

"Hey I'm--"

"Lennon, I remember you, don't worry," she giggled.

"Well hey Katie!" I said.

We talked for a bit longer before I glance at my watch and gasped at time, it was almost 11 p.m. and I had to wake up at 6. Lovely, lovely, lovely.
