"No."
"So our government lied?"
"Our government is behind this!"

El could in fact, not do it fully. Fighting a parasitic other-worldly monster designed to destroy you, left your powers exhausted, funnily enough. So the group was left to try and push over the car once more with their own brute force. To their credit, they managed to topple the car over to its side so it wasn't upside down. The problem was that the hood was still inaccessible.
"All right, now, all the way," Jonathan piped up as the group took a small breather. "Ready?" he pushed his pole down against the car to push it once more, and the rest followed suit. With a final grunt, the mangled car toppled over and fell onto its wheels.
Mike sighed. "Told you," despite the situation a smile formed on his face. "Physics."
Everyone dropped down from the counter where they had stood to push the car. Lucas helped Max down before he extended his hands up to Scarlett. He was the tallest and strongest of the young boys and was strong enough to lift Scarlett without much difficulty. With a grunt, Lucas helped Scarlett down, supporting her weight until she collected herself on her good leg and her crutch. "Thanks," Scarlett muttered, peering up at Lucas.
In the meantime, Nancy and Jonathan had started to fight the hood of the car. "How do we get it open?" Nancy asked, turning to Jonathan as she jerked the hood in vain.
Jonathan stuttered for a moment, trying to find the words. "Uh, there should be a latch," he pointed at the driver's seat. "Check under the wheel," he messed with the hood and failed. "You see it?" he asked, eyeing Nancy, who was leaning into the convertible.
"I don't know, hold on." Nancy leaned further into the convertible in search of the latch.
Scarlett stumbled over to the other side of the car and tried to open the door, she didn't succeed. The door had been damaged in El's attack and was left jammed. "Come on," Scarlett hissed, tugging at the door again in hope of helping Nancy.
"Found it!" Nancy exclaimed. Her lips tugged up and she gave the car an elated slap before rounding it back to the hood. "Do you see it?" she rested her hands on the car beside her boyfriend and looked at him questioningly.
"It should be right here," Jonathan said, shaking his head in disappointment. "Distributor, distributor," he muttered, as though saying it enough would make it magically appear in front of his eyes.
Scarlett opened her mouth to ask Jonathan a question, but her mouth went dry as her hand tingled. Her eyes snapped down, and she clenched her hand. She turned her head sideways and locked eyes with Will, who was clutching the back of his neck. His terrified look told her everything she needed to know.
