"Are the communists behind this?"
"No."
"So our government lied?"
"Our government is behind this!"

"What is grief if not love persevering?" -Vision 。❅*⋆⍋*∞*。* ∞*⍋⋆*❅。
Scarlett turned on her heel and ran away from her friends, or the visions she was having of them. She ran down the stairs of the attic, tripping over her own feet in her hurry. She panted.
"Scarlett," a deep, booming, familiar voice called out. "It's time."
The woman shook her head. She pulled open the door of the attic, but there was no Creel house on the other side. It made way for green tiles. The worst day of Scarlett's life.
Two brown plaits were draped over Scarlett's shoulders. She wore a yellow dress. Bill took her by the hand and led her into the Montauk lab. She saw dozens of white coats, though none paid her any mind.
Present day, Scarlett shook her head and ran through the memory. But the environment shifted to later in the day, the worst one in Scarlett's life.
Young Scarlett sat in the lab with sensors attached to her head, Sam and Bill stood nearby as they examined the data from the machine, which whirred as it produced results. The lights flickered. So Sam had spoken the truth, that or Vecna was toying with her.
"It's time, Scarlett," Vecna's voice boomed.
Scarlett shook her head and tried to run away again. She hummed 'American Pie' to herself. It didn't work. An invisible force wrapped around Scarlett's stomach and pulled her back.
Back into a supply closet.
Anything but that memory. Anything.
Bill pressed a young Scarlett against his chest, shielding her face from the door. He shushed her, trying to calm her down.
Scarlett shook her head and sobbed. She pressed her body against the fake door in hopes of stopping her father's killer. But it was all an illusion. The door still opened, and in strode a blond man. The man was the same age as Scarlett's father. He was dressed in white and his face...
The penny dropped, the puzzle piece fell into place.
That was the man Scarlett had drawn.
The Henderson woman jumped towards her younger self and pulled young Scarlett out of Bill's arms. Scarlett pressed her younger self against her chest. "Don't look." Scarlett screwed her own eyes shut as well. "Don't- don't look."
But it didn't matter. In reality, Scarlett had looked all those years ago. Vecna was kindly reminding her of what exact horror she had seen that day. Her mind could suppress the memory all it wanted, Vecna had ripped it out of her flimsy walls and put it on display.
