It takes a total of five tries before Jin gets what he wants.
The first time he asks to bake cupcakes together with all the members, they laugh it off and move onto different conversations. To be fair, their conversations were already all over the place before he mentioned it. They were listing off ideas for Run BTS episodes, but apparently they're tired of being in the kitchen, so they brush it off.
The second time, he's a little more adamant. The idea is stuck in his head now and he keeps thinking of so many possibilities, so many outcomes, and Pinterest has lots of different cupcake ideas as well. So he mentions it around Halloween time, saying they should make some Halloween-themed cupcakes, and it's Jimin who laughs it off first.
"Those would be a mess," he says. "We'd fail so bad at that."
Hoseok laughs as well. "We'd have to use food coloring for Halloween icing. I can already imagine Jungkookie's tongue turning black or purple." After he says this, Jungkook protests, saying he won't eat the icing, but then he quickly realizes that it's not the first time he's had a colored tongue—purple, when he ate BTS cupcakes that were given to him, and he'd licked the icing right off.
"It would still be fun," Seokjin says with a pout.
Namjoon tugs the oldest's bottom lip out, making him release the pout. "Don't start whining, hyung. We'll make cupcakes some other time, yeah?" he says with a dimpled smile, and Seokjin hates that he's a sucker for that gorgeous grin of his.
"Okay," he says sadly, still pouting.
His boyfriends are so mean.
The third time he mentions it, he wants to make Christmas cupcakes. And he was so close to talking the company into letting them do it for a Run episode, but it ended up not going through, and even if it did, Jin would rather not force the others to do it. He wants to do it at their home, not in front of cameras, because he wants to smear icing on someone's lip and kiss it away. He wants to be able to wrap his arms around one of their waists and kiss their neck and tell them how cute their cupcake decorating skills are.
Instead, his idea gets rejected even by the company.
So, he tries again out of the blue. No holiday, no birthday, and no reason other than just because.
Taehyung asks, "You really want to make those cupcakes, don't you?" and it makes Jin get poutier than ever.
"Of course I do! You guys just won't do it with me," he gripes, crossing his arms. "I want to do something with you guys. All seven of us."
