25:Fan Cultivation

Chapter 25

After the talk with Yanli, I directly look for uncle, hoping whatever was on my mind was not a result of reading to much fanfics.

Once I found him, I asked to talk to him in private, thus making both of us go to his quarters to talk.

" Why do you need to talk to me in private Yanyan?" He asked.

" Uncle, I wanted to ask if you know anything about fan cultivation." I inquired, internally praying he knows something.

" Fan cultivation you say?" He clarified and I nodded.

" Well it is a very special technique only a few sect use." He said which made me sigh in relief. So Fan Cultivation is indeed real.

" Is it true you can learn this without a golden core." I asked.

" It is. It is like meditation, but through harnessing the wind and using it." He answered.

" So, is there a way I can learn, Fan Cultivation?" I asked hoping I can.

" Why are you asking? No one in our nearby sect use it." He responded.

" Well, as you said no one in the near cultivation sect knows this, so if I learn we have an advantage against them since wind can be harness anywhere, whereas a sword can be disarmed." I responded confidently.

" I will try to ask a friend of mine from a distant south if they could teach you." He said while stroking his beard.

" Thank you so much uncle. Also, can I train with Jiang Yanli and Nie Huaisang?" I inquired again.

" Why?" He asked back.

" Well for starters, both the Jiang's and the Nie's are our allies now, so we should help them right. Also, both of them are considered the 'weakest' of their sect. So them knowing a cultivation method not used here can be an advantage, knowing people underestimates them." I tried my best explaining to convince uncle.

" That's a fair point. Once that acquaintance of mine come in cloud Recesses, I'll ask them to teach the three of you." He said which made me happy.

" Thank you so much uncle." I thanked his happily.

" Is that it?" He inquired.

" Well, I want to ask about the Jiang's reaction to my suggestion of not announcing the Wangxian engagement." I honestly told him. Don't come at me, I was just curious.

" Wangxian?" He asked confused of the name.

" It's a combination of Wangji and Wuxian." I explained.

" To answer, they accepted it immediately, no more additional questions or anything." Uncle responded.

" It seems like Madam Yu really wanted Wei Wuxian out of her sect." I said sadly.

" Atleast he'll be healthier here. I still can't believe he suffered so much at such a young age."

" True, hope he'll be happier here with us in cloud Recesses, right uncle?"

" Right."

" Well you should be going now and study more in the library." Uncle adviced me.

A week had passed since my talk with uncle. The week was uneventful,  apart from Wangxian being lovey-dovey in front of Da-ge and I, and Da-ge also talking to Meng Yao.

Seems like I'm the only single one here *sigh*.

After a few walks here and there, a disciple informed me that uncle wants to meet me in my quarters, so I went to him.

" Uncle." I greeted as soon as we met.

" Yanyan, I believe you already know why I called you now?" He said.

" I have many thoughts in my head as of the moment uncle." That's true. I actually have many ideas why uncle called me. It may be anything about wangxian, my so called vision, or about the cultivation thing.

" About the fan cultivation you talked about last week." Oh, so this is the reason.

" He finally wrote back and told me he is willing to take only 4 disciples, no more, no less." That's more than enough. We're only three, need one more to complete.

" I will give you the task of choosing the other three disciples that can learn with you." Uncle told me.

" I will uncle." I said containing my urges to squeal in joy.

" The cultivator will arrive two days from now. I hope the four of you will be prepared by then." He said and I nodded.

After that, we both stayed quiet for a while. None of us spoke for about a minute or two, but after then he broke the silence as he says, " You really took care of this place."

" It is already a beautiful place, I hardly even change anything." I said with a smile.

" Are you enjoying your stay here?" He said.

" Yes I do. There may be too many rules to follow but atleast, I have roof in my head." I joked a little to lighten the now a little bit heavy mood.

" You know, your father and mother longed for you for many years since you were gone. I know they will be proud of what you become now." He said as he tapped my right shoulder and left me on my quarters alone.

Dang why does that punch me straight into my heart? I know they are not my real family. I am not a Lan, but hearing Uncle Lan indirectly saying he's proud of me makes me happy? proud? Determined? a mixture of everything at once? I don't know, but I hope I'll continue to make them proud.

After the talk with uncle, I began thinking of who would be the perfect person to join us in training. Since the three of us, Jiang Yanli, Nie Huaisang, and I are from different sects, I figured we need someone from Jin clan or Wens. Well, as for the Jin's, I can't trust them fully. The only people that can be trusted in their sect is Mianmian, but she is already a great cultivator. I need someone who is looked down upon, and not given the great attention.

Who could be the perfect person?

Wait I know the perfect person already.

Good thing I remember this person.

Time to meet them...

First I went to the Jiang's, where I obviously found Jiang Yanli.

I called and asked to speak to her in private.

" Shijie, I have a great news." I announced to her.

" What is it?" I can see the curiosity in her eyes.

" Remember the cultivation I talked to you about before? The Fan Cultivation?" She nodded. " Uncle found a person who is willing to train us and two others. The Cultivator, or shall I say our Master, would arrive two days from now. Uncle hope we could be ready by then and receive them." I explained.

" The cultivator would really train us? We can cultivate?" She said hopefully.

" Yes, Shijie, we can now. So please be ready. But I have one request jie, can we keep our training secret? I dont want to catch unnecessary attention to us." She smiled after hearing what I have said.

" I actually have the same thought Yanyan. I don't want others, even my own family to know that I am cultivating. I don't want them to expect much for now, so I would gladly keep it a secret." She responded with a smile which I also return with a bright smile.

" Thank you so much jie. So jie I'll be leaving now. I still have to tell the two others about this. You're actually the first one to hear about this news." I told her.

" I'm glad. Thank you again so much Yanyan for this opportunity. I will never waste it. You can go now." She said with a smile then hugged me before I left her and went to the next person.
