The soft light of morning peeked through the curtains, casting a warm, golden hue over the room. Kakashi stirred first, his fingers brushing against the top of Mayumi's head as she lay nestled in his chest, still sound asleep. The events of the night before had left him satisfied in ways he hadn't expected, and yet there was a quiet, comforting sense of peace as he lay there with her.
Mayumi stirred a little, stretching, her body pressing closer to him as her eyes fluttered open. Her messy hair fell around her face, and she looked so adorably content that Kakashi couldn't help but smile.
"Morning," she mumbled, her voice rough with sleep, her eyes still half-closed.
Kakashi chuckled softly, brushing a lock of hair from her face. "Morning, beautiful," he replied, his voice low and warm, like it always was when it was just the two of them.
She shifted, finally lifting her head to meet his gaze. "What time is it?"
"Early," Kakashi replied, his hand slipping around her waist to pull her even closer. "But not too early to enjoy being lazy."
Mayumi smiled, her eyes brightening as she leaned in to kiss him softly. "I was hoping you'd say that." She sat up, stretching again, her back arching as she groaned. "You know, I think I could get used to this."
Kakashi raised an eyebrow. "Get used to what?"
"This." She gestured around them with a small wave of her hand. "You. Me. Lazy mornings. No missions. Just... us." Her voice was soft, almost wistful.
Kakashi's heart tightened slightly at the sincerity in her words. "We can have more mornings like this. If that's what you want."
Mayumi grinned, playfully poking him in the chest. "Good. Because I'm not letting you off the hook that easily. I'm expecting breakfast in bed, remember?"
Kakashi smirked. "Is that a demand, or a suggestion?"
She winked at him, her playful side coming out in full force. "A suggestion, but one I'm very much hoping you'll follow through on."
Kakashi laughed and pushed himself up, stretching as he got out of bed. "I guess I'll get breakfast started, then. You stay here and enjoy the peace for a bit."
Mayumi yawned and lay back down with a satisfied grin. "You're lucky I love you, Kakashi Hatake."
He paused at the door, looking over his shoulder at her. "Yeah. I'm lucky." His eyes softened, a hint of something deeper in them. "You have no idea how lucky I am."
Mayumi's heart skipped a beat at the look in his eyes, and before she could respond, he was gone, leaving her with a smile on her face and warmth spreading through her chest.
As the morning progressed, Kakashi was true to his word, bringing her a tray of breakfast with everything she loved—fresh fruit, eggs, toast, and a hot cup of tea. Mayumi couldn't help but laugh when she saw the tray, the food carefully arranged, and Kakashi's attempt at looking "chef-like" in the kitchen, even though he had probably just thrown everything together.
"You really did go all out," she teased as he set the tray on her lap.
"I did," he replied with a proud smile. "It's your day, after all."
She dug in, savoring every bite, and when she finished, she leaned back against the pillows, satisfied.
"So, what's next on the agenda?" she asked, eyes sparkling.
Kakashi shrugged, picking up a book from the nightstand. "Well, I was thinking of finishing this book... unless you have other plans."
Mayumi laughed. "I'm good with a lazy day. Maybe we can do something spontaneous later?"
He grinned. "Spontaneous, huh? I'm all for that."
For a while, they just sat together, content in the quiet of the moment, knowing that whatever came next, they would face it as they always did—together.
