I was lost in darkness. The world around me was empty, still, and silent. Did I die? The thought lingered in my mind, but something didn't quite add up. I could still feel my heartbeat, and my brain was definitely still functioning. Crap, what did that bastard do to me? I could feel my body, but it was like I was trapped within it—stuck inside my own mind. I can't even escape my own head. Perfect.

I wandered through the black void, feeling nothing but confusion. But then, something caught my eye. Is that... It was a memory. My memories. I could see flashes of my time in Konoha, all the people I had met, all the things I had done. As I walked through this dark landscape, the memories moved backward, playing out like scenes from a movie.

First, I saw myself meeting Kakashi. I couldn't help but laugh. Wow, I was so drunk that night. I chuckled at the memory of him looking at me in exasperation as I stumbled around, barely able to string two words together.

Then, I saw Tsunade and Shizune. The faces of the village's strong leaders filled me with warmth. But after that, the memories grew clearer, and I found myself in one I hadn't thought of in a while—the first time I met Hikaru. He was so cute and innocent back then, probably thought I was some freaky weirdo. I smiled at the memory of his nervous grin and my impulsive, awkward introduction. I definitely messed him up, I mused. He swears a lot more nowadays.

But after that, the images faded, swallowed by the darkness once again.

What happened after that? I thought, but no answers came. My mind was a blank, just like before. I guess I'll never know what happened to me... after I die.

But then, I saw it—something different. In the distance, a faint light glowed. It was another memory, but this one was unfamiliar. I ran toward it, desperate for more answers. As I neared it, the memory revealed itself.

Who is that?

It was a man I didn't recognize. Tall, stern, yet kind, and he called me by a name I didn't remember. Uncle?

He's my uncle? I wondered. The memory flickered with scenes of him helping me train, pushing me to hone my abilities, to understand my powers. But everything was so strange. The room was sterile, unlike anything I'd seen before—it felt like a hospital, but not quite. I'd never been in a place like that.

Confusion clouded my thoughts. What was going on? Why do I only remember him?

As I tried to focus on the man, I felt the emptiness inside my mind grow. I couldn't recall anything else—just him. All my memories seemed tied to him, but everything else was missing. It was as if he was the only thread connecting me to my past.

Suddenly, a bright green light enveloped me, pulling me away from the memories. It was overwhelming, and I was yanked from the vision before I could see more.

And then, everything went black again.

I awoke with a jolt, blinking as I tried to adjust to the world around me. I was in Hikaru's arms, being carried somewhere. His grip was tight, but his voice broke through my foggy thoughts.

"You're alive!" he exclaimed, his voice full of disbelief and relief. He nearly dropped me in the process, but I couldn't help the chuckle that escaped my lips.

"Hey, crybaby, what's wrong?" I teased, still dazed from the whole experience.

Hikaru looked at me like I was a ghost. "You—you're alive! After I saw him drag your soul out of your body... I thought you were gone for good!"

"So that's what happened," I muttered, trying to piece it together. I must have really died, but somehow, here I was. Alive.

Hikaru slowed his pace, and for a moment, we just stood there. "I was taking you to Tsunade, to get help. I thought you were lost."

"Come on then, let's go," I said, cutting him off. "We don't have time to waste." I started to move, but as I took my first step, the world around me blurred. The memory of the destruction hit me hard, and I stumbled, falling to my knees.

Hikaru was beside me instantly, picking me up with a strength that surprised me. "Will you please stop dying on me already?" he growled, his face full of frustration and relief.

"What's happened here?" I asked, looking around at the devastation. The village was in ruins.

"The Akatsuki happened," Hikaru said, his voice laced with anger and fear. The weight of his words sank in, and my heart dropped. My mind immediately flashed to the people I cared about, and a cold wave of dread washed over me.

I pushed Hikaru away gently, trying to regain my footing. As I looked around, I saw something that made my heart skip a beat: people were getting up. They're coming back to life. It was like a miracle, but it also felt strange, like a dream. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

And then, I spotted her. Katsuyu. She was there, moving with purpose as she guided people to safety. Without thinking, I rushed to her, followed closely by Hikaru.

"Katsuyu, what happened?" I asked, my voice shaking.

She looked at me, and though she was calm, there was a sadness in her eyes. "The Akatsuki were here, but... Naruto came back. He saved the village."

I blinked, trying to process the words. "Naruto?" I repeated. A sense of relief flooded me, and I allowed myself a smile. So, he came back. Thank god.

Hikaru looked at me, his worry still evident. "I'm just glad you're okay," he muttered, his voice thick. "But don't ever scare me like that again!"

"Yeah, I know," I said, rolling my eyes. "But I'm back. You can stop crying now, you big softie." I chuckled, trying to lighten the mood.

"Not funny, you idiot," he snapped. "Don't you ever dare to do that again."

"Fine, fine. I won't die anymore," I teased, but the weight of the situation still lingered. "I saw him... fighting. I couldn't bear it. I thought I'd lost you."

Hikaru stiffened at my words, his eyes softening. He reached out and pulled me into a hug. "Sorry," he mumbled, his voice cracking slightly. "I just never thought I'd see you die... I didn't want to lose you."

I squeezed him tight, trying to comfort him, though I felt the same fear and grief in my chest. "I know, me either." I pulled back, a smirk on my face despite everything. "But hey, I'm alive now, so you can't go around being all dramatic."

Hikaru gave me a mock glare before gently ruffling my hair. "Stop laughing at your own death," he scolded.

I couldn't help it. It was all so absurd. "It's funny, you know?" I said with a grin. "I've never actually died before. Can't help but laugh at the chaos of it all."

Before Hikaru could respond, we heard someone calling our names.

"Mayumi! Hikaru!"

Sakura's voice rang out across the field, and before I knew it, she and the others were rushing toward us. They surrounded me, lifting me off the ground in a massive group hug, and I couldn't help but laugh again, feeling the warmth of their presence.

"We heard from Katsuyu..." Kiba began, but I cut him off with a playful grin. "Will you stop it already? I'm alive, aren't I?"

I stood up, brushing off the dust and laughing. It felt good to be surrounded by my friends again. The world was still in pieces, but at least for now, I had my people, and that was all that mattered.

Just then, a cheer erupted from the crowd. I looked up to see Kakashi walking toward us, Naruto slung over his back. I let out a breath I didn't know I'd been holding. Thank god, he's okay. Relief flooded through me as my eyes locked with Kakashi's. He gave me a small, reassuring smile, and I knew everything would be okay.

But before I could walk toward him, a group of children ran toward Naruto. He was caught off guard, his eyes wide as they swarmed him, calling his name, laughing, and cheering. It was a sight I never thought I'd see—Naruto, finally respected by everyone. His hard work had paid off. He was no longer the village outcast.

And in that moment, I realized something. We were all alive, and no matter the battles we'd faced or the ones still ahead, we would fight together. For each other. For Konoha.
