Chapter 97 - Game Night Gone Wild

When Mayumi invited everyone over for a "calm and relaxing game night," Kakashi knew—deep in his bones—that it would be anything but.

"Just cards," she'd promised sweetly, grinning up at him with innocent eyes. "Maybe a board game or two. Low-stakes fun."

That lie unraveled the moment Gai kicked open their door with Rock Lee in tow, shouting, "A YOUTHFUL NIGHT OF COMPETITION BEGINS!"

"Why is he sweating already?" Kakashi muttered, watching Lee strike a pose behind him.

Naruto arrived with arms full of snacks, followed closely by Sakura, Shikamaru, Ino, and Choji, who was munching on chips before even getting through the doorway. Hikaru slunk in last, hands in pockets, smirking like he already had a sabotage plan in motion.

"So what are we playing first?" Naruto asked, flopping onto the couch and narrowly avoiding stepping on one of Mayumi's floating game boxes.

"We start simple," Mayumi declared, levitating a stack of colorful cards. "Ninja Uno."

Shikamaru groaned immediately. "Why are there kunai symbols on the cards?"

Mayumi winked. "Special edition. Every Draw Four comes with a minor dare."

"I already hate this," Kakashi said.

"You'll love it by round three," she replied smugly.

Round One: Ninja Uno

By the time the first game ended:
• Kakashi had been dared to recite a haiku about his favorite vegetable (he chose yams).
• Naruto had eaten a hot pepper mid-game and was chugging milk out of a measuring cup.
• Sakura had tackled Ino because she "reverse Uno'd" her five times in a row.
• Hikaru was keeping score with a suspicious glint in his eye.
• Gai and Lee were standing on their heads for "optimal blood flow to enhance card reading."

"I can't feel my arms," Lee grinned.

"That means it's working!" Gai replied proudly.

Kakashi leaned toward Mayumi and whispered, "Is this still considered calm and relaxing?"

She grinned. "This is nothing. Wait 'til we start Ninja Charades."

Round Two: Ninja Charades

Mayumi insisted on pairing people up. She, of course, chose Kakashi.

"Because we're so in sync," she said, winking. "Let's see how well you know my brain."

"I fear it deeply," Kakashi said flatly.

The game started out normal. Naruto dramatically acted out a ramen bowl, which Choji guessed in under two seconds. Gai's attempt at charading "exploding clone jutsu" ended in an overturned table and Lee mimicking an actual explosion. Shikamaru didn't move a muscle and somehow still got his clue guessed.

Then Mayumi got the word "slug summoning."

She puffed up, crouched dramatically, and mimed squishing something onto the ground while making vague bubble noises.

"Uh... puddle? Soap? Snail...? No, wait—slug?" Kakashi guessed, skeptical.

She beamed. "You got it!"

"I don't know if I'm proud or disturbed."

"Both. Definitely both," Hikaru said, from where he was lounging upside-down on the armrest of the couch.

Round Three: Truth or Dare (Disaster Edition)

It was Shikamaru who suggested a break. It was Mayumi who turned it into a trap.

"Let's do a lightning round of truth or dare while we rest!"

"Define 'rest,'" Sakura muttered, stretching her legs.

Ino went first and dared Kakashi to compliment everyone in the room in different poetic forms. ("Naruto, your energy flows like a chaotic river of enthusiasm... in haiku.")

Naruto dared Hikaru to tell the group his most embarrassing childhood story. He refused, so Mayumi made the lights flicker dramatically until he caved and admitted he once tripped over his own scarf during a mission and rolled down a hill for a full minute.

Mayumi was dared to demonstrate her telekinesis while blindfolded. She accidentally (maybe on purpose) floated a pillow into Shikamaru's face and a bag of marshmallows onto Gai's head.

Choji's truth was about how many bags of chips he could eat in one sitting. The answer shocked no one.

Later That Night...

Eventually, most of the snacks had been eaten, the games put away (kind of), and Gai and Lee had passed out mid-flex.

Naruto and Sakura bickered over who cheated more. Shikamaru declared he was "too old for this nonsense" at least three times before falling asleep upright on the couch. Ino braided Choji's hair while he snored. Hikaru had disappeared—only to be found stacking all of Kakashi's furniture in the hallway for "strategic reasons."

Kakashi sat on the windowsill, sipping warm tea, while Mayumi leaned on his shoulder.

"That was fun," she said sleepily.

"You levitated Gai's socks off his feet."

"He dared me."

Kakashi chuckled, brushing a few strands of hair behind her ear. "You're ridiculous."

"And you love me for it."

"Unfair use of facts."

She grinned, kissing his cheek. "Thanks for not running away."

"I tried. Someone floated the door shut."

Mayumi yawned. "You'll thank me later."
