Our new apartment is everything I could have asked for. It's cozy and welcoming, and my bedroom is perfect—right next to Kakashi's. It took me a while to unpack everything, but with Hikaru's help (he had like seven things in total), I managed to get it done.

With some time to kill before we had to meet Tsunade, Hikaru and I decided to take a stroll around the village. We were chatting about random things, but my attention was mostly on the sights, absorbing the hustle and bustle of Konoha.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a huge dog bounded toward me, knocking me off my feet. I let out a startled laugh as the dog started licking my face, much to Hikaru's alarm.

"Hey, buddy, where did you come from?" I chuckled, scratching behind the dog's ears.

"Akamaru! What are you doing?? I'm so sorry!" A boy's voice came rushing toward us.

He reached out his hand to help me up, and I took it without hesitation. "It's okay, I don't mind," I said with a smile, still laughing at Akamaru's overenthusiastic greeting.

"Oh, I've never seen you before," the boy said, his face lighting up with curiosity. "My name is Kiba, and this is Akamaru."

"My name's Hikaru, and this is Mayumi," Hikaru added, grinning as he looked at me. "Though she doesn't really listen to anyone, including us."

"What? Did you say something?" I shot a playful look at Hikaru, but he just rolled his eyes, causing Kiba to chuckle.

"Well, well, look who finally shows up," came another voice. A girl and a guy approached us, both of them wearing neutral expressions but exuding a quiet strength.

"Hinata, Shino, these are Hikaru and Mayumi," Kiba introduced us.

"Nice to meet you," Hinata murmured, her voice almost a whisper, though she smiled shyly.

"Pleasure to meet you," Shino said calmly, his expression unreadable.

"For us too," Hikaru said, giving me a quick nudge in the ribs. I was still kneeling on the ground, playing with Akamaru.

"What the hell?" I looked up, noticing for the first time that everyone was standing around me. "Oh, sorry! I'm Mayumi," I said, scratching the back of my head, embarrassed as I stood up.

"You guys are new here?" Kiba asked, his grin widening.

"Yep, just moved in today," I replied, flashing a bright smile.

"We were going to meet up with our friends. You want to come with us?" Kiba asked, clearly eager to get to know us.

"We'd love to, but we have to meet up with Tsunade," I explained.

"Lady Hokage?" Hinata asked quietly, her eyes lighting up at the mention of Tsunade's name.

"Yeah, yeah." I chuckled, but Hikaru immediately slapped the back of my head.

"Stop it!" he said through gritted teeth, shooting me a warning glance.

"I'm going to beat your ass," I said, grinning as I turned back to Kiba and the others.

"Well, we have to go, but I hope I'll get to know you guys better," I said, smiling at them as I gave Akamaru one last pat on the head.

"Of course! And I'm sorry again for Akamaru," Kiba said, his face reddening slightly, though he looked genuinely apologetic.

"Don't worry about it, I love dogs," I said as I continued to pet Akamaru. Kiba blushed a little more, and I couldn't help but chuckle.

We said our goodbyes and made our way toward the Hokage building. But as soon as we were out of their sight, I lunged at Hikaru, jumping onto his back and wrapping my arms around his neck. I grinned, choking him slightly as I playfully retaliated for the earlier slap.
