LXXII.

The car rolled slowly into the driveway, balloons tied to the porch swaying in the breeze. A big sign was taped across the door in blue glittery letters: "Welcome Home Kairo & Kyrie!"

I looked over and saw Tahani smiling as we pulled up to the house. I put the car in park and hopped out quickly, jogging around to open her door.

"Take your time. I got you." I said as I carefully helped her out, keeping my hand on the bottom of her back while balancing both diaper bags over my shoulder.

The second the front door opened, voices erupted inside.

"MOMMA HANI AND DADDY!" I heard one of the kids say and little feet running as I opened the door.

We took the kids in the living room seeing everybody coming in at once. Ben and Chanel had even flew here to see the babies.

I smiled happily as I carried the car seat in one hand and held Tahani up with the other.

"Aight, y'all... everybody calm down. Don't be all in my babies faces." I said mugging them.

But it was too late—everybody was so excited and loud.

I looked beside me seeing Tahani ease herself down onto the couch.

"Let me see my grand babies." Sherhonda said, rubbing her hands together as Tahani pulled back the blankets in their car seats.

Everybody got so quiet as they all stared at them.

I smiled as Kairo stretched his little hand upward while Kyrie made a soft whimpering sound.

"Oh my Lord," Sherhonda said clapping rubbing Tahani shoulders. "You did good girl."

"Which one is which?" Draco asked confused. " They look just alike."

"This one's Kairo Deshawn," she said, rubbing the baby's foot. "And this one is Kyrie Keshawn."

"No they look just alike." Irulan said recording them.

"Yeah, but look Kairo got a birth mark right by his hairline and Kyrie got one on the bottom of his foot." I said pointing.

"I think the babies look like Hani." Amerie said coming out the kitchen with a towel slung over her shoulder.

"Naw I think they look like us. They got our eyes." Sherhonda said squinting.

They started going back and forth about who the babies looked like.

One by one, everyone got their turn to hold them.

"Y'all giving me baby fever so bad." Teelee said.

"Yall done after this?" Sherhonda asked rocking Jai to sleep.

"Tahani say we is." I said shrugging.

"You got ya tubes tied?" Amerie asked.

Tahani rolled her eyes and shook her head no.

"They ain't done." She said walking back into the kitchen.

Everybody took turns holding them and congratulating us as we watched while playing with the other kids.

"I'm so happy yall done had two more cuz Ian doing this no more no time soon." Chanel said while holding Kairo.

"Whole time we finna have triplets. They think they finna out do us." Ben said holding Kyrie making me laugh.

"Oh no we not! That's why Ian getting off my birth control." Chanel said sitting Kairo in his car seat and Ben doing the same with Kyrie.

"You see this?" I said putting my arm behind Fananj head kissing her forehead. "We built this mamas. This our family. Our babies surrounded by love."

"Yeah. I know." she said wiping her eyes leaning on my shoulder. "We did this together."

Kairo stirred, letting out a soft cry, and Kyrie followed with a cry of his own. Everybody started panicking and looking around.

Kentrell leaned down and begin to sing lowly, steady like always. "High school knew the kids they know I was wearin the same uniform back to back. Grandma left me as a kid time to man up she ain't neva coming back."

And just like that, the cries got quieter as they listened to their daddy sing to them.

"Thank y'all for coming and celebrating the boys coming home with us. We really appreciate it. We built this shit brick by brick." I said feeling my eyes start to water. "I love each and every one of yall."

" We love you too." Teelee said smiling as everybody joined in and nodded.

"Come over here." Tahani said motioning to all the kids to gather around. "Somebody take me and my family a picture. Everybody say cheese."

Kayden and Tay stood behind Tahani with their hands on her shoulders and the other little kids sat beside her and climbed on her lap. I leaned over and smiled. This all I ever wanted and now I got it.

*A few hours later*

The house was finally quiet. You could hear a pen drop at how quiet it was. Everybody was asleep. The twins in their bassinets and K'Amoura laying in between me and Tahani.

Kairo stirred first, letting out a tiny whimper that quickly turned into a cry. Seconds later, Kyrie's voice joined in.

"Already? I swear they got a timer set." Tahani groaned, sitting up slowly, her body still aching from delivery.

"Don't worry, I got 'em." I said getting up out the bed moving quickly so they wouldn't wake Jai up. I scooped Kairo into one arm and Kyrie into the other. The cries echoed through the room, but I just rocked back and forth, humming low under my breath.

"Look at you," Tahani said softly, watching from the bed. "You so good with them."

"I just wanna help out as much as possible now that it's 3 kids in the house. I know you sore and tired. I got it." I said.

Kairo quieted first, his tiny fist curled against my chest. Kyrie fussed a little longer, until I kissed the top of his soft hair and murmured, "A'ight, lil' man, Daddy hear you. Ain't nobody gon' let nun happen to you I promise."

I heard shuffling behind me and saw Tahani out of my peripheral getting up out the bed walking towards us.

"We done outdid ourself with this one Trell." Tahani said laughing. "We got three under three."

"Im always crying these days." Tahani said wiping her eyes.

I laid them back into their bassinets, pulling the blankets up just right before stepping back as they both slowly went back to sleep.

I wrapped my arms around Tahani, pulling her closer to me as we stood in silence, watching our sons sleep. Two tiny chests rising and falling.

"I love you more than words could ever explain." Kentrell said. "Youn know what all this mean to me forreal."

"I love you more." She said looking up at him.

The room fell still, filled only with the sound of their twins' soft breaths. And in that quiet midnight moment, with the world outside forgotten, this was all they needed. Their babies and each other.

"We should get some sleep. They'll be back up in the next hour or two." Tahani said.

"You right." Kentrell said nodding as they made their way to their sides of the beds.

"Goodnight handsome." Tahani said as she closed her eyes.

"Goodnight mamas." Kentrell said wrapping his arm around her ,but he knew he wasn't going to sleep anytime soon.
