A missed call notification angrily greets you.
The caller, "Imani," you say.
"She called?"
"Looks like it," you show Sunspot the notification, the screen bighting up as you walked out from the shade of the grocery building. The chatter of carts pushed against asphalt and concrete offering a barrier of privacy from by-passers.
"Everything just happened the other day," He signs.
"Yeah, you'd think she'd give it more time." Biting your cheek you continue after a thought, "Maybe I should call her."
Stopping by his car the sound of the cart dies down, "If you think you want to jump into it, by all means go ahead." with a emoted sigh he continues, "It looks like she really cared about you, but—nevermind."
Taking a pair of bags from the cart you follow, "You sure?"
As much as you wished to pry, the serious face on him was unknown to you. He has seen plenty of reactions from you at this point, and learned much more than you intended in a short amount of time, learning a few facets of his person only seems fair.
"You don't think it's a good idea, do you?"
"I think it's good you guys reconnect, she did the right thing" He pauses, "But I'm still cautious if this has gone for a while."
"People change." Your voice piques in hope.
"Yes they can, just...be careful."
The air rests unsettled but you decide to let it be by helping load the remaining bags into the trunk. A grunt is strained out of you from a particularly loaded last bag.
"Gotta look out for that one," comments Sunspot, "Guess we should take you home."
With a 'clank', the trunk is shut.
"That's a slot sooner than expected," You admit, settling into the passenger's seat.
"Maybe we should have thought of this outing a bit better before getting perishables." An audible click settles his safety at the driver's seat.
"Nothing I can say to have you help me at home?" You grin, clicking in your own safety belt.
"Uh, ew," He fake gags, "No way. Treat me to a 5 star restaurant and then maybe I'll consider prancing around like a maid."
"Just one meal? Wow, you must like me so much." The car's engine comes to life, dasher with limited light. Backing up, any pedestrians that decide to try to get in the way now is a deliberate choice.
Call it paranoia, perhaps a momentary laps of self judgement but you couldn't help but ask, "You do like me, right?"
Sunspot's eyes glance at you, his attention on the multitude of signs and moving parts of the world. But for a second, he makes space.
"Of course I do."
[This one is a short chapter, lots of lore going on for MC atm, i hope it isn't coming off too dreary. Trying to include all the Sunspot fluff content to balance things since this is a big part of it!!]
