A gentle knock on the door snapped both Jungkook and me out of our short-lived excitement as the harsh reality of the real world came back to us. There was no way we'd be able to tell the other members, not until the fate our our group was set in stone.
"Come in," Jungkook called out, his voice as sweet as ever, filled with masked excitement.
Hoseok's head popped in, a small smile on his face. "I wanted to say...that I'm glad you apologized, and that from now on we won't exclude you,"
His small attempt to make me feel better was working. That was all I wanted, for them to understand I felt excluded and why this was a big deal for me.
"If we do...disband...you can come stay with me. Until I can get my own apartment, it'll be ours. I'm already saving up-"
I cut him off by standing up and embracing him. His offer, and the thought he had put behind it, meant the world to me.
"Don't worry, Hobi. If we do disband, I'll figure something out. I'm also going to begin saving what I get."
His eyes gleamed with a tint of guilt. Seeing a teenager already having to save for an apartment without knowing what the future would hold...he finally understood.
"Um, go to bed. Both of you, shower, and go to bed. You have school tomorrow, then we have tour prep." He couldn't even look at either of us, his eyes glossed with tears that were threatening to spill out.
I slowly stood up and walked out of he room, unsure how to feel. Part of me was over the mood, but the other part of me was riddled with anxiety over the fact that I didn't know if I was going to be in this group still or on the streets.
An entire school day had passed, a day full of learning math equations mixed in with a vocal lesson, which was long behind me.
"Walk slower, I want to spend time with my girlfriend," Jungkook hapred in a sing-songy voice.
I couldn't help the smile that was forming. It sucked not being able to act like an actual couple. No holding hands, no kissing, none of the cliche teenage couple stuff, just because we were idols.
"Walk closer, but not too close. Just be normal,"
This new side of Jungkook was a breath of fresh air. He was being all goofy and bubbly like he was when we first met, before everything got serious.
"You be normal, Koo. Plus, if anyone from the press sees us, they're also going to see these," I said, motioning to the unflattering mustard yellow school uniforms.
"Well, we do stand out, but you look good. None of the other girls can make that uniform look as good as you do." His flirting should've swooned me, but it only made me laugh.
"Hey! Don't make fun of my flirting!" he playfully shouted, nudging me before running away. He may be a legal adult, but he was still the pure definition of playful.
A smile tugged at my lips as my pace picked up into a slow jog, the sound of my school shoes rhythmically tapping on the floor with each step.
The familiar run-down building had finally come into sight; the sky was filled with hues of violet and orange dancing together, painting the perfect sky to practice under. I let out a sigh as Jungkook held the door open for me. The building reeked of sweat and humidity as the smell hit my nostrils.
The sounds of music blasting filled the room, even in the front office. Jungkook's hand brushed mine for just a second before he pulled away, flashing me a soft, almost secret smile. "Ready to dance, partner?" he whispered.
