Kiara Malfoy: Prologue

Pain.

That was the only thing the girl felt all over her body as she was tortured beyond any pain imaginable. Crimson blood drenched her clothes as it seeped from deep cuts along her stomach, arms and legs. She lay uncomfortably on her hands and knees, trembling from the dizziness and nausea as she spat a mouthful of blood onto floor.

"You are no daughter of mine. How dare you become friends with blood-traitors, with mudbloods?" Lucius Malfoy stared at the figure with cold, grey eyes. A smirk was plastered on his face as the girl couldn't help but show her suffering, the cuts across her skin throbbing. His Dark Mark tattoo was exposed, his sleeves rolled up. He raised his wand, flicking it harshly and immediately, a slash appeared as though an imaginary knife sliced her abdomen. A loud shriek escaped her lips. "Aren't you, you filthy Blood Traitor? Answer me or I swear you will never see life outside of this Manor again!"

Kiara Narcissa Malfoy pressed a bloody hand against her gash to try and steady the blood flow, wincing at the pain that coursed through her body. Twin sister of Draco Malfoy, daughter of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, she was a fifteen-year old witch who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Unlike any of her family or ancestors however, Kiara was not placed in the Slytherin House in her first-year during the Sorting Ceremony. Instead, the Sorting Hat announced to the entire student body that the eleven-year old girl belonged in Gryffindor for her courage and chivalry to go against everything that she grew up with. At the time, Kiara did not understand what the Sorting Hat meant. She was consumed by the fear of what her father would think when he discovered that Kiara was in Gryffindor. But, of course, the fear changed overnight into a new sense of determination and strength. It didn't take Kiara long to discover that she found happiness and friendship in Gryffindor, something that she doubted she'd ever find in Slytherin.

Lucius Malfoy always considered his daughter as a mistake and traitor. Even from a young age, anyone could tell that she was different. She didn't believe that Mudbloods and Muggles weren't as important as Pure-Bloods. She was always the subject of her father's torturing, since as long as she could remember. To protect herself, Kiara managed to somehow convince her father that she would act as a spy for the dark side and maintain a deceitful eye on Harry Potter. Although this was her initial purpose on her first day at Hogwarts, she soon discovered that her heart belonged elsewhere and she realised what the Sorting Hat truly meant. Her friendship soon after blossomed with Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and the Weasley's, particularly Fred and George, after she discovered that they were not arrogant, idiotic or intolerable. Moreover, her friends were genuine, intelligent and absolutely hilarious, in the twins' case. Despite being two years younger, her closest friendship was with Fred and George who she bonded with instantly. They took a likening to her, noticing that she seemed to have a mischievous nature herself.

Somehow, her father believed the many lies over the years as his daughter told him exactly what he wanted to hear. She was clever; careful to insult and criticise the Gryffindor House and Albus Dumbledore when she was at the dinner table with her father. At the end of last June however, Voldemort, a Dark Wizard who was at large fifteen years ago, finally returned to full strength and power. Lucius was in the inner circle, as a Death Eater and devoted follower. Like him, he wanted his son and daughter to join the dark side. However, after the first week of the summer holidays, her father finally discovered that Kiara did not intend to betray her friends when she bluntly refused to be branded with the Dark Mark earlier in the summer holidays.

All over Kiara's body, bruises and scars lingered from where her father tortured, beat and punished her. The House-Elves around Malfoy Manor assisted Kiara through her suffering over the three months, healing her secretively with their own potions and magic to prevent her from any serious injuries. Without them, she feared that she would've been dead by now.
